Aberystwyth Town 1 Penybont 0

ABERYSTWYTH are looking to make it nine points out of nine at Park Avenue since the JD Cymru Premier restart, and are off to a fine start against Penybont this afternoon.
The Seasiders, who named an unchanged side with Gwion Owen replacing Steven Hewitt on the bench, were pushed back early on but gradually came into it with their first chance on 14 minutes. Great skill from Harry Franklin to roll the ball through the legs of the defender to bring about Aber’s first chance from a corner, which was cleared.
Another corner followed on 20 minutes, drilled in by Mathew Jones to the on-rushing Louis Bradford who made contact but the ball bounced around the box before being cleared.
At the other end, ex-Seasider Kane Owen reached the edge of the box to lay-off for Lewis Clutton to cross but it was collected by Connor Roberts.
The hosts were posing a greater threat after a rather eventless first 25 minutes, Mark Williams just wide with a diving header, though the flag was raised, and striker Jamie Reed forcing Ashley Morris into a decent save.
The breakthrough came on 33 minutes, last week’s goalscoring hero Harry Franklin released behind the defence and slotting the ball to the far corner.
Ceredigion native Mael Davies blasted over the bar from 20 yards as the visitors tried to restore parity but Aber were growing into the game and looked strong.
Kane Owen’s free-kick sailed over the bar for Bont and they had a Sam Snaith goal ruled out for offside as Penybont pushed for the equaliser before the break.
