GARETH Jones-Evans has become the third player to return to Porthmadog during the summer, following Chris Jones and Ywain Gwynedd back to the Traeth.

His transfer from last season’s Cymru Alliance champions Caernarfon Town has now been completed.

The talented midfielder initially left Porhmadog in 2012 to join Holyhead Hotspurs, having previously played for Pwllheli - and he established himself as a key player with his pace, accurate passing and cracking shots.

His time at the Traeth was blighted by a lengthy injury, but now fit again he can provide Craig Papirnyk with the kind of creative play which will add quality to the midfield.

Meanwhile Sion Eifion’s Porthmadog Under 19s team recorded a victory last night at the Traeth over Gwynedd League opponents, Waunfawr.

They were 2-1 up at the interval then went on to win by 3-2. On Sunday they travel to Park Hall to play The New Saints in their first Welsh Premier Development League fixture.

They will be in the northern section of the league, comprising of 15 clubs, and won last season by Bangor City, with TNS the runners-up.

The League will be composed of the teams from both the Welsh Premier and Cymru Alliance.

The early season fixtures are as follows: 21 August TNS (a; 28 August Llandudno (h); 04 September Newtown (h); 11 September Cefn Druids (h); 18 September Flint (a); 25 September Connah’s Quay (h).
