Burton Seconds (173 for 8) drew with Crymych (297 for 4)

SAM Kurtz struck a superb century for Crymych as they set a formidable target of 297 for 4 against Burton Seconds in the Pembrokeshire League division four.

All-rounder Kurtz then returned fine bowling figures of 4 for 32, but the home batsmen held out for a draw on 173 for 8.

Crymych captain Richard Thorne opened the batting and he reached a half century with a great knock of 52, including a good partnership with Kurtz, who eventually departed on exactly 100.

Excellent support was provided by James George, who made 39, before Ioan Davies finished on 55 not out and Harry Jones 36 not out as Crymych almost made it to 300, before they ran out of overs.

Burton worked hard to chase down the total with Ian Betterley hitting 37 and Dan Ridge 35, but it was the bowling of star man Kurtz which proved their undoing as his four wickets disrupted progress, before the hosts finished on 173 for 8. Dafydd Wright (2 for 40) and Ioan Davies (2 for 38) also picked up wickets.
