BALA Town have confirmed that left-sided midfielder Louis-Augustin Malandjou Kondjo has signed for the Cymru Premier club, along with former Everton youth teamer Oliver Shannon.

The 25 year-old Frenchman has been training with the Lakesiders for the past couple of months, and impressed the management team at Maes Tegid. He started out at Nottingham Forest, playing for their Under 18s and 21s squads, before signing for Anagennisi Derynias in Cyprus. Spells at Akritas Chlorakas (Cyprus), SC Salgueiros (Portugal) and AD Sanjoanense (Portugal) followed, before a move to Wales.Bala Town manager Colin Caton said: “Louis has been training with us since September, and we have been impressed with his attitude and his ability in training."He is based in Wrexham and has signed for us until the end of the season to see if he can break into the first team.”The Lakesiders unveiled 24 year-old midfielder Oliver Shannon as their second signing of the winter transfer window. An Everton youth product, who won the Youth Premier League title in 2013-14, he went on to play football in America, following his release from the Toffees.Spending four years in South Carolina at Clemson, he was co-captain for two years with 13 goals in 82 appearances, before then being signed by Atlanta United in 2018 and playing Major League Soccer."Ollie is a talented player who will add strength and depth to our midfield," said manager Caton."I tried to sign him in the summer, but he chose to go a different direction with his work career, but is now available to play regularly. I'm sure he'll knuckle down and fight for a place, and adds to our options."Caton added: “At the start of the season, when Danny Gosset was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer, we didn’t replace him in the squad, so we have always been one midfield player short."Then Evan Horwood left the Club just before Christmas, which we couldn’t do anything about really due to his move back up to the north east, so we’ve been two midfield players down.“Danny is a central midfield player and Evan a utility player who could play in numerous positions, so since then we have been low in numbers, with only defenders as options on the bench.“There is now competition for places, and the squad is the same size as what started the season with. I am really happy with the squad now, especially going into the next 12 games.”The Lakesiders have also revealed that goalkeeper Ashley Morris is going out on loan to Cymru Premier outfit Penybont, following an agreement with both Clubs.

Currently third in the JD Cymru Premier table, the Lakesiders have two games remaining before the mid-season split, with a trip to Cardiff Met this weekend, and then Cefn Druids at home next Saturday.“We have a really challenging game away at Cardiff Met on Saturday and then and another tough game against Druids the week after," said Caton.“It will be the toughest top six since we have been in the League, so we need that strength in depth, especially as everybody else has large squads, and we need one as well."With people coming in and making our squad stronger, it makes players react. There’s fine lines in this game, and everybody needs to be at the races for the next 12 games. We’ll focus on that."
