A WORKING party will be at Bala Town on Saturday morning from 9am in an effort to get their Welsh Premier League game on against Haverfordwest County at Maes Tegid (ko 2.30pm).
It will be the Lakesiders’ final home fixture of 2015, and with three away fixtures to come until New Year’s Day, the club says that all support would be greatly appreciated.
A win last week at Carmarthen in the Welsh Cup boosted confidence, after two defeats in the league, and with the race for a top six position at the league split hotting up, a win will be much-needed for third-placed Bala on Saturday.
In the reverse fixture, the Lakesiders were 2-0 winners, with Mark Connolly notching a brace, and with the Pembrokeshire Bluebirds propping up the table, Colin Caton’s men are out to get a result.
A busy festive period will see Bala travel to face Bangor City in their rearranged game on Tuesday night, before a trip to face The New Saints next Friday.
The Lakesiders then have a double-header against Rhyl, away on Boxing Day, and at home on New Year’s Day.
Anthony Stephens returns after his one match ban, whilst Rob Pearson (illness) and Kristian Platt (back) hope to be in contention after missing last week’s cup tie.
Meanwhile, Bala Town face a trip to face Holyhead Hotspur in the fourth round of the Welsh Cup after a late winner earned them a 2-1 win over eight-times winners Bangor City.
Bala boss Colin Caton has bemoaned the number of away ties his side have faced in the Welsh Cup.
"The draw has always been tough to us," he said."Just one out the last nine draws has been drawn at home in Bala."
Indeed, the statistics bear out Caton’s claim as, over the past five years, Bala have played just 30 per cent of their ties at home - the worst luck for any of the current Welsh Premier League clubs.
