BONT will be targeting their first piece of silverware within the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League when they take on Talybont in the Len and Julia Newman Memorial Trophy Final at Park Avenue tonight (Wednesday, ko 7pm).
The league leaders remained on track for the treble as they beat Machynlleth Reserves 4-1 in the semi-final of the Cambrian Tyres League Cup in midweek.
Two goals from Ben Lewis and one each by Andrew Carree and Owen Evans saw them through for a convincing win, and they will now meet Talybont in the Cambrian Tyres League Cup Final next Wednesday, 10 May, also at Park Avenue.
Bow Street Reserves have secured at least runners-up position in division one after they registered a 3-1 win over local rivals Talybont.
Goals from Guto Havard, Shaun Jones and Sion Manley earned the Magpies the points to move them within one point of leaders Bont, with one game to go.
Talybont scored through Mikey Fitzpatrick, but their title hopes are now over.
Should Bow Street win their last game against Aber Uni Reserves on Thursday, Bont would have to beat Aberdyfi to deny them the title in their last game on 13 May.
Machynlleth Reserves finished their season with a 3-2 win over local rivals Aberdyfi, with Dion Kohler scoring twice, along with a single goal from James Roberts.
Penrhyncoch Reserves celebrated their first league win, at their 17th attempt, with a 3-2 win over Padarn United, with the help of a couple of first team players.
Padarn had opened the scoring through Daniel Parry, but Penrhyncoch replied after the interval when Arron Lemon converted, following a Nick Jarvis cross.
Paul James restored Padarn’s lead, but with five minutes left Jonathan Evans found Lemon to score with an outside of the boot volley across the Padarn keeper.
With virtually the last kick, Penrhyn then netted their winner when a cross from Evans was put into his own net by a Padarn defender.
In midweek, Llanilar had beat Padarn 6-5, courtesy of two goals from Rhys Morgan, a Ryan Hopkins penalty, Ryan Edwards, Guto Roberts and Jack Lawton.
Paul James scored a hat-trick for Padarn, with Steve Jones and Bobo Radu also scoring in an action-packed encounter on Tuesday night.
Dolgellau Reserves meanwhile hammered Llanon 9-0 last weekend in what had been arranged as a division two and Second Division Trophy double-header.
