WITH Tregaron Turfs not playing on the weekend, title rivals Bont took full advantage to move four points clear at the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one with a 6-1 win at home to Machynlleth Reserves.
Ben Lewis led the way with a well-taken hat-trick and two assists, whilst Sion Jones and Lee Jones also got on the scoresheet.
The home side dominated the early possession and after a succession of corners they finally broke the deadlock after 20 minutes when Sion Jones headed in from a Ben Lewis corner from five yards out.
Soon after it was 2-0 as Lewis himself rounded the Mach keeper to slot home.
The second half started with the visitors on a mission, and they were rewarded as a free kick was headed in by Paul Jones.
Lewis, however, soon doubled his tally to restore Bont’s two goal lead, again pouncing on a loose ball to slot home.
Bont then pushed on and they were rewarded with a penalty when Fergus Morris stepped up, but his shot was saved brilliantly by the Machynlleth goalkeeper.
Ten minutes later, the hosts got another penalty and this time Lewis stepped up and deservedly completed a well-deserved hat-trick for a tireless performance.
Lee Jones then added the home side’s fifth goal of the game with an inch-perfect free kick from 25 yards into the top corner.
There was still time for one more goal as substitute Dan Morgans powered home a header into the far corner of the net as Bont moved four points clear of rivals Tregaron, who now have a game in hand.
In the only other division one match, third-placed Bow Street Reserves had to settle for a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw with Aberystwyth University Reserves.
The Magpies twice lead, missed a penalty and conceded in the final minute as the students took a share of the spoils, through Callum Simons and Nathan Ash.
Bow Street had scored through an own goal from the University keeper and Lee Crumpler with a header on his debut.
The division two match between Padarn Reserves and Tywyn/Bryncrug Reserves was postponed.COSTCUTTER CEREDIGION LEAGUEST DOGMAELS cut the gap at the top of the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one to just four points with a 2-0 success over Aberaeron Reserves at Cae Sgwar.
The Saints, who are enjoying a rich vein of form, are now just a point behind second-placed Newcastle Emlyn, and four off current leaders Lampeter Town.
The Saints dominated for long periods, but excellent defending kept them out before the deadlock was finally broken just before half time as Rhys Jones netted from the penalty spot, after Dan Jones was upended
This was how the score remained until eight minutes from time, when a free kick floated into the Aberaeron penalty box by Adam Williams was headed home by experienced Ioan Owen.
In division two Llanboidy enjoyed an easy 10-0 victory over Crannog Reserves as Chris Bown helped himself to a couple of goals. Jac Griffiths, Huw Howells, Celt Jones, Declan Harries Ross McDonald, Emyr Lewis and Luke Davies also scored, along with an own goal.
