LLANBOIDY completed a Costcutter Ceredigion League and Cup double as they added the South Cards Cup to the division two title that they had won.

A well deserved 2-0 win over Maesglas in the final at Llandysul on Friday capped a superb season, and this double came 22 years to the day after they last achieved a double, when beating Crannog in the final of the Ceredigion Cup back in 1996.

Top scorer Rhys Jenkins put Llanboidy ahead, and although Maesglas pushed hard, Tomos Rogers doubled the Llanboidy lead midway through the second half, to seal a fairly comprehensive victory.

Llanboidy had booked their place in the final on Tuesday on penalties, after a 3-3 draw against Newcastle Emlyn Reserves.

Costcutter Ceredigion League

CARDIGAN Town signed off their Costcutter Ceredigion League campaign with a 2-1 win over Cilgerran Rovers in the local derby match at the King George field.

The Magpies were forced to come from a goal behind, before they finally got the better of division two bound Cilgerran.

John Williams put the visitors ahead on the half hour, when he ran on to a superb ball and steered home past Neil Evans, but youthful Cardigan side played some very entertaining football after the break.

Llion Williams levelled matters when he was put through by Jack Thomas to coolly fire home past Rovers keeper Gary Evans.

The Magpies continued to attack and they took the lead when Emlyn George latched onto a front post corner and flicked the ball between post and keeper.

The visitors pushed hard for a winner, with the likes of Marcus Dean prominent, but Town managed to keep them out with a number of timely clearances from Barry Morgan to earn a well deserved win.

Emrys Morgan Cup and League Cup winners Newcastle Emlyn secured third place in division one with a convincing 8-3 win over Ffostrasol at Parc Emlyn.

There was to be no repeat of their shock Dai ‘Dynamo’ Davies Cup final defeat against the Wanderers, who had notched a 6-0 win over Cardigan in midweek.

Ashley Summers hit a hat-trick for Newcastle Emlyn, along with two goals apiece from Jake Kelly and Cory Davies, as well as a single goal from Jake Shakespeare.
