LLANIDLOES Town maintained their winning start to the MMP Mid Wales League division one by overcoming newly-promoted Builth Wells by 3-1 in their first outing at Victoria Avenue.
Connor Bird’s fifth goal in three games put the Daffs on track, before Dewi Allen and George Clarke sealed the win in the second half. Mark Jones netted a late consolation for the visitors.
“We did not play as well as we could, but it’s another win and three goals, although it’s a bit disappointing to concede our first goal of the season,” said Llanidloes manager Hugh Clarke.
“Everybody’s fighting for places as we’ve got a strong squad, and with the games coming thick and fast, we can mix things accordingly.
“We’ve started the season well, but we now want to keep it going, and look to be consistent as it’s going to be a strong league this season.”
The Daffs made the ideal start by taking a seventh minute lead when Brown cut in from the right before curling in a terrific left footed cross for Bird to nod in.
That advantage was doubled eight minutes into the second half as Allen netted his first goal for the club following a goalmouth melee, and George Clarke made it 3-0 when latching onto a pass from Drew Reynolds.
Builth pulled back a consolation goal through Mark Jones late on, after the hosts failed to clear the danger.
Caersws made it three wins from three as two penalties from Elliot Jones and goals from Aled Jones, Mark Edmondson and Craig Harris secured convincing 5-2 win at home to Aberaeron.
The visitors had scored through Steffan Gittins and a Gareth Lewis penalty.
Bow Street had to settle for a share of the spoils as they drew 1-1 with Welshpool at Cae Piod, courtesy of an own goal, whilst a free kick from sub James Clewlow earned the visitors a point.
Joey Price and Elliot Williams scored twice as Radnor Valley maintained their perfect record with a 6-1 win over Churchstoke, with Carl Matthews and Liam Jones also scoring. Stoke replied through an own goal.
Robert Nicholls scored a hat-trick as Llandrindod Wells also made it three wins from three on Friday night with a 4-0 home win over Kerry. Darren Murphy completed their scoring.
Carno kick-started their campaign with an emphatic 7-1 win at Knighton, after coming back from a goal down. Joe Morris and Harry Holt both scored twice, along with singles from Richie Evans, Daniel Lewis and Kieran Beaton - all after Dan Farmer’s opening goal.Click on link below for Division Two and Midweek round-ups.
