LLANIDLOES Town paid for a poor first half display as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Llandrindod Wells in the Spar Mid Wales League division one.

Goals by Richard Powell and Jonnny Williams, either side of an unfortunate own goal by Gareth Owen, saw the Spa side go three goals up before the interval, but the Daffs proved to be a different proposition after the break.

The introduction of substitutes Harri Clarke and Lee Vaughan boosted the Daffs, but it proved too big a mountain to climb as they were left to reflect on a disappointing first 45 minutes.

Rhys D Evans had a good chance to pull one back 10 minutes into the second half, but his effort was well saved.

“In the first half we were poor,” admitted Llani boss Hugh Clarke. “We were decent in the second half, but we’ve got to defend set-pieces much better, which has been a problem every week.

“We made a few changes at half time, and we then showed a bit more aggression, but it’s no use playing in just dribs and drabs.

“We’ve got three games left, and I’m looking for as many points as we can get to make sure we finish as high as possible. There will be a one or two changes because I’m looking for more commitment and effort.”

The Daffs are still short of numbers, with George Clarke facing a long lay-off with glandular fever, while Steve Jones (groin) and Nefyn Savage (knee) are on the sidelines. They have no scheduled game this week.
