PAUL Bonner scored a hat-trick as Llanilar booked their place in the final of this season’s Len and Julia Newman Memorial Trophy with a solid 4-1 away victory over Bow Street Reserves at Cae Piod.

Guto Roberts also netted for the fired-up visitors as they came strong in the second half for a well-deserved win, despite Keiron Reynolds scoring for the Magpies.

The game, however, was overshadowed by a nasty-looking injury to former Mapgie Dan Hopton, and both clubs have wished him a speedy recovery.

Penparcau are through to the semi-finals of the competition after they beat Padarn United 3-0 at Blaendolau Fields.

Andrew Gittins scored a hat-trick for the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League leaders, who will play Tregaron Turfs in a last-four showdown on 13 April.

The two sides will also meet in the semi-finals of the Cambrian Tyres League Cup this weekend, whilst Llanilar will take on Talybont in the other last-four match.

Penrhyncoch Thirds’ manager Debbie Jenkins was proud of her charges as they gave her a birthday present by clinching the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League division two title with a game to spare, with a 6-0 home win against Llanon.

Rob Makaruk, Nigel Mills, Ben Dimmack, Scott Wilson, Darren Thomas and Chris Wylde all got on the scoresheet as Penrhyn registered their 10th league win of the season.

“The lads have been brilliant all season and have done really well and to win the title, it’s a great achievement for them all,” said Jenkins. “We have a tough few games left in the Divisional Trophy, and if we can also book a Final appearance it would finish our season on a real high.”

Reece Owen netted for Dolgellau Reserves as they drew 1-1 at Borth Reserves.
