LLANYSTUMDWY mounted a storming second half revival against Gwynedd Meditel Cup second round rivals Aberffraw, but still fell short in the end to incur a 3-2 defeat at Dwyfor Park.

Aled Jones’s hosts encountered big trouble during the first spell, as they fell three clear goals behind to netted efforts from Richie Roberts on 11 and 23 minutes and Andrew Jones on 35.

Llanystumdwy trimmed the arrears through Sion Parry on 49 minutes and Bradley Williams on 66, but ultimately found the equaliser was beyond them.

League leaders Bontnewydd secured passage to the semi-finals with a comfortable 4-2 margin over Talysarn Celts, by means of two goals in each half.

Aled Steel opened Bontnewydd’s account on 31 minutes, followed by Sion Williams on 42, and then, in the second spell, Gareth Edwards joined in on 60 and Rhys Roberts found the net on 85.

Talysarn had found the home target first and last, through Adrian Griffith on 30 minutes and Ian Pleming on 90.

Bro Goronwy won 2-1 at Menai Bridge Tigers, where Liam Willingham scored on eight minutes and Andy Williams on 47 for the visitors, before Dylan Jones conceded an own-goal on 62.

In Gwynedd League action, Nefyn United trailed by two goals inside five minutes, but hit back to win 4-2 over Beaumaris at Bangor City’s 3G facility.

Nefyn were stunned by strikes by Danny Camilleri after just two minutes and then brother Chris three minutes later, but Ifan Jones replied on 11 minutes and Gethin Trenholme equalised in stoppage-time at the end of the half.

Nefyn’s Guto Roberts, made it 3-2 on 58 minutes, followed by Ifan Jones again with their fourth goal after 87.

Harlech Town went down 2-1 against title-chasing Bodedern Athletic, who clambered back to the top position.

Scott Jones scored for Harlech on 70 minutes but Bodedern prevailed courtesy of their strikes by Ricky Jones on 55 and decisively Sion Jenkins on 75.

Waunfawr won their North Wales Coast Cup match 6-1 against Llanfairfechan Town Reserves, after two earlier postponements, to reach the last eight.

Mark Greasley netted on 30 minutes, Ellis Povey on 41, Sion Roberts on 44, Adrian Jones on 45, Rhodri Owen on 65 and Rhys Davies on 72 – whereas Iestyn Thomas netted a reply on 58.
