LLANYSTUMDWY let things slip in the second period as they went down 3-1 at home to Aberffraw in the Snowdonia Fire Protection Gwynedd League.

After a goalless first half, Aled Jones’ side were sent reeling by three goals in a quarter-of-an-hour after the break.

Rich Roberts netted on 50 minutes, Ieuan Lloyd on 62 and Gary Bolton on 65, with the hosts’ Callum Everson finally netting a reply on 90 minutes.

Nefyn United registered a 4-2 success at Blaenau Ffestiniog Reserves, having been 3-0 ahead at the half-time interval.

Gethin Trenholme was quick off the mark for Nefyn, taking only three minutes to find the home team’s net, and then Dylan Sion Jones followed suit on 18 and again on 40 from a penalty.

When Daniel Roberts provided Nefyn’s fourth goal with 70 minutes played, the match outcome seemed clear cut, but Blaenau were not taking all that lying down and two reply goals salvaged at least some respectability.

Dylan Davies netted for the home side on 76 minutes, as did John Jones on 84, to make the arrears look less embarrassing, but the result still amounted to their fifth defeat in as many outings.

League leaders Bontnewydd banked more winners’ points from a 3-1 home victory over Menai Bridge Tigers, courtesy of goals from Rhys Roberts on 33 minutes from penalty, Gavin Jennings on 75 and Aled Steele on 90 minutes.

Second-placed by a point, Bodedern Athletic raised the day’s biggest tally, as 6-2 conquerors of Beaumaris Town on Bangor City’s 3-G facility at Nantporth, where they had dominated 5-0 at the half-time interval before easing up.

Bodedern’s six-shooters were Mal Briggs on five minutes, Casey Boylan on 10, Ricky Jones on 15 and 44 and Matthew Jones 37 and 48, long before Beaumaris replies by Dean Redmond on 79 and Darren Ishmael on 84.
