LLANYSTUMDWY booked passage in the North Wales Junior Coast by beating Mynydd Tigers, the current Anglesey League leaders, in a 4-3 thriller at the 3G facility at Nantporth.

It proved a welcome return to winning ways for Aled Jones’ squad, ending a lean spell of five matches without a win, which had included exits from all the other cup competitions.

Llanystumdwy shrugged off an early set-back, when Carl Antoniazzi conceded an own-goal on 10 minutes, and they drew level eventually at 2-2 by half-time, with a goal from Tom Williams on 15 minutes, and another from him virtually on the whistle.

The rivals remained balanced right up to the tense closing quarter-of-an-hour, when Llanystumdwy surged into a winning lead, thanks to Sion Guto netting on 75 minutes and Sion Parry tucking away a penalty on 85.

Mynydd, who are from the Bethesda area, reduced the arrears again to 4-3 with another spot-kick in added time, but the Dwyfor Park side had no difficulty in holding out for a deserved win that has restored morale.

A hat-trick by recent signing Mark Dunn was the star feature of Nefyn United’s 4-2 win over Bryngwran Bulls that swept them into the North Wales Coast Junior Cup’s last-16.

Dunn, who lives at nearby Tudweiliog, had switched to the Cae’r Delyn club from Bangor City’s under-19s a fortnight earlier and he made his treble impact after 12, 44 and 75 minutes.

Nefyn’s Daniel Roberts also netted on 61 minutes, whereas Bryngwran, who had been level at 1-1 at one stage in the first half only to trail 1-2 at the break, replied through Matthew Roberts on 35 and Andrew Bailey on 88.

Bro Goronwy were good value for a 4-1 win over St Asaph City, their goals coming from Connor Jones on 7 and 60 minutes, Andy Williams on 21 and Carwyn Williams on 86, with Kelvin Burke replying on 80 minutes.

Bontnewydd were 4-2 away winners over another Gwynedd side, Beaumaris Town, their strikes being landed by Aled Steele on 11 minutes, Gareth Edwards on 50, Rhys Roberts on 75 and Morgan Roberts on 90.

Beaumaris kept in contention with goals from Kieron Jeffreys on 13 minutes and Chris Camilleri on 80.

In another all-Gwynedd clash, Waunfawr beat Menai Bridge Tigers 4-2, thanks to early goals by Sion Roberts after 1 and 8 minutes, Ellis Povey on 65 and Ioan Gwynedd on 77. Tigers replied through Dave Baston on 42 minutes, and Dafydd Healy on 47.
