LLANYSTUMDWY achieved their fourth win in five outings when beating Gwynedd League opponents Bangor University by 2-1 - although the Dwyfor Park hosts were made to battle for the points against their winless visitors.

The lowly students, showing lots of enthusiasm, had scored first through Joseph Wyman after five minutes, but Aled Jones’s side gradually improved.

Two goals around the half time interval, from Bradley Williams on 40 minutes and Sion Parry on 46, turned the tables to secure them the three points.

Harlech Town were condemned to their third defeat by Cemaes Bay this season, when they were beaten 4-2 at the School Lane ground.

Having already lost twice at home to the Anglesey club - 2-0 in the league in August and 3-0 in the Meditel Cup in October - Harlech were eager to exact revenge.

They had taken the lead at 2-1 after 38 minutes, only for Cemaes Bay’s sharp-shooters to equalise close to half time and then net two decisive extra goals in the second half.

Mattie Sanbring had netted Harlech’s opener on 21 minutes and Jamie Jones steered them ahead later on, whereas Cemaes prevailed with goals from Ricky Jones on 15 and 43 minutes, Rhys Lloyd on 54 and Kieran Thomas on 76.

Nefyn United’s league fixture away against Menai Bridge Tigers was postponed, unusually because of two waterlogged pitches –firstly the hosts’ King George V Field and then the second choice of Bangor University’s Ffriddoedd Road ground.

Another match to be called off last weekend was leaders Felinheli versus Aberffraw, because Cae Seilo was unfit.

A North Wales Coast Intermediate Cup quarter-final tie was played at the third attempt, with Bodedern Athletic finally beating Talysarn Celts 2-1 after extra time.

Celts, who had been drawn to stage the match originally, only for two postponements to occur, led through Jac Jones after 23 minutes, but Bodedern took charge thanks to Barry Jones replying on 43 and Ryan Taylor with the winning goal on 98 miniutes.
