HONOURS and points were shared in an entertaining 2-2 draw when Llanystumdwy and Bontnewydd faced each other in the Gwynedd League’s fourth-versus-second placed showdown.

The Dwyfor Park rivals were all square at 1-1 at the half-time interval, after Sion Parry had steered the home team in front on 10 minutes, only for Rhys Roberts to equalise for Bontnewydd on 35.

The second half goals were just a minute apart, with the visitors’ Terry Jones pouncing to score on 72 minutes, and the home team’s Mark Cook rushing in a timely response straight from the restart.

After that, both sides searched diligently for the elusive winner but all their efforts proved to be in vain and the stalemate was confirmed by the final whistle.

Nefyn United meanwhile ran into trouble at Menai Bridge Tigers, losing 2-0 due to early and late goals from Andy Wannop, who netted at the King George V Field after two and 87 minutes.

Harlech Town fired blanks again, losing 3-0 to Beaumaris Town at their adopted base at Bangor’s 3G facility, where Sion Lock scored on 13 and 88 minutes and Danny Camilleri after 60.

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs’ Reserves remain pointless at the foot of the table, after seven league matches played, after another disappointing defeat in a 6-0 reverse away at Bro Goronwy.

The Moelfre hosts prospered courtesy of a hat-trick from Jack Thomas after 39, 44 and 56 minutes, a brace from Cole Whittle on 69 and 79 minutes and Connor Jones’s single goal on 70 minutes.
