Wolves Women 2Blackburn Rovers Ladies 5
Wolves Women’s thrilling journey in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup came to an end at the hands of Blackburn Rovers Ladies on Sunday, despite a spirited display against the WSL Championship side.
And Aberystwyth’s Lowri Walker was on the scoresheet in the second half for Wolves as they eventually lost 5-2 in the fourth round tie.
But there’s no shame in that with FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands outfit Wolves the lowest ranked side remaining in the competition and having not played a competitive match for months due to Covid restrictions.
Lowri said: “I think we can be really proud of ourselves after today’s performance.
“Right from all the staff, the support from the club to the girls who can’t be involved due to injury or other commitments.
“We are one pack and we stick together through everything.
“Credit to Blackburn they are a great side with lots of talent and unfortunately our journey has come to an end.
“We caused them some problems up the field but I think the fact we’ve been off for months not playing and they’ve carried on throughout showed in the end.
“Despite the result I think we’ve proven a point over the last three weeks and made the city proud.”
