BOW STREET Reserves continued their push for silverware in the cup competitions with an exciting 4-3 extra-time win away at Dolgellau Reserves in the second round of the Len and Julia Newman Memorial Trophy.
The Magpies, who travel to face Lampeter Town in the quarter-finals of the Emrys Morgan Cup this weekend, were made to battle all the way by the second division one outfit.
Goals from Stephen Harrison, Gwyn Jones, Shaun Jones and Ian Evans secured their progress, but the hosts made a real battle of it, with goals from Darryn Jones, with a brace, and Iwan Lloyd keeping them in touch.
Tregaron Turfs meanwhile marched in into the semi-finals of the Cwpan Coffa Dai ‘Dynamo’ Davies Memorial Cup with a 3-2 win over Talybont, courtesy of goals from Rhun Garner, who netted a brace, and Llyr Davies.
The visitors found the net through a Ben Byrne penalty and Clint Middleton, but it was the Turfs who edged this entertaining tie to reach the last four of the Ceredigion knockout.
Llanilar exited the competition with an action-packed 8-4 extra-time defeat at Costcutter Ceredigion League outfit Crannog, after the match had finished all square at 3-3 after 90 minutes.
The prolific Ryan Edwards scored a hat-trick for the Aberystwyth and District League side, and Guto Roberts also got on the scoresheet, but Crannog piled on the pressure in the second half of extra time to seal victory.
For the Llangrannog side, George Colven and Robbie Evans bagged a brace of goals apiece, and the other marksmen were Mike Glover, Huw Owens, Gary Davies and Rhys Davies.
In Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League action, Aberystwyth University Reserves notched their third win in division one this season with a solid 4-0 away victory at basement battlers Machynlleth Reserves.
Goals from Ellis Fenwick, Michael Cotter-Jones, Andy Wilson and Emmanuel Enoidem sentenced struggling Mach to their 13th defeat from 14 league outings so far this season.
Padarn United Reserves proved too strong for Penrhyncoch Reserves as Rich Williams and Regis Owen both scored twice in a 6-0 win, with Paul James and Paul Keegan also netting.
