BOW STREET are through to the semi-finals of the Spar Mid Wales League Cup after they edged a close 1-0 win over Berriew at Cae Piod last weekend.
Looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Machynlleth, Street produced a committed performance to overcome the determined visitors, who were missing key players.
Andrew Gittins beat Berriew keeper Danny Foulkes for the only goal of the game in a keenly contested quarter-final tie, and the Magpies worked hard to maintain their clean sheet to the end.
Bow Street will take on Llanfair United or Knighton in the last four of the competition, whilst in the other semi-final tie Aberaeron also fly the flag for Ceredigion against Welshpool.
Aberaeron were impressive 5-1 winners in their quarter-final at Carno last weekend.
Dan James and Mattie Davies both scored twice for the Black and Ambers, with Liam Jacques also netting, whilst Scott Williams was on target for Carno.
They face high-flying Welshpool Town in the last four after doubles from Will Thomas and Adam Davies, and a single from Ian MacLeod sealed a 5-1 win over Radnor Valley, who had levelled through Joey Price.Spar Mid Wales League Division OneBORTH United are looking destined for the drop in the Spar Mid Wales League division one after they slipped to a 4-2 defeat at home to lowly Churchstoke at Uppingham Field on Saturday.
In their first competitive match on their home ground since last October due to the wet weather, Borth needed points against a Stoke side that was also promoted into division one last summer.
A glorious sunny afternoon greeted the teams, and Borth made a great start with Dale Lloyd scoring the opening goal after seven minutes, but a Borth own goal made it 1-1 at half-time.
The visitors progressed better as the second half got under way and two goals from Andrew Green plus an inevitable goal from the prolific Joe Haycock took the game away from Borth.
The hosts persevered and Gwion Pugh-Jones scored late on, but their 19th league defeat means they are now 13 points adrift of third-from-bottom rivals Kerry.
There was a surprise win for Kerry at Dolforgan Park as they recorded a solid 3-0 win against their third-placed visitors Llanidloes.
The Daffs went behind early on through a Ben Davies goal and were 2-0 down at the break when Davies squared from the right for Matt Mumford to score.
The visitors had chances, with Peter Rees chipping over while Richie Evans had a couple of efforts blocked, but there was no way back once Luke Mumford added a third goal from the penalty spot in the second period.
Machynlleth were unable to build on a midweek win at Bow Street as title favourites Llanrhaeadr climbed to the top of the division one with an emphatic 9-0 win.
Marc Griffiths led the way with five goals, Iwan Matthews added a hat-trick and Khyam Wyton also scored as the home team moved clear of long-time leaders Welshpool on goal difference, and with five games in hand.
Llanfair won their eighth home game in a row as goals from Gethin Stephens and Ben Jones secured a 2-0 win over Llandrindod Wells, whilst goals by Mark Edmondson, Aled Jones and Aston Heath earned Tywyn/Bryncug a 3-2 win at Knighton, who had led twice though goals by Declan Beddoes and Matt James.
