BOW STREET made it 10 points from five matches in the Spar Mid Wales League division one as goals from Mathew Evans and Tom Wyn Roberts earned them an exciting 2-2 draw with Carno at Cae Piod.

Carno, with eight first team players missing, settled for a draw, courtesy of goals from Jordan Jones and Peter Rees.

Jones took the lead midway through the first half following a mix-up in the home defence, and the visitors had a couple of opportunities to add to their lead.

Street came back in to the game as the interval approached, and they drew level when Mathew Evans forced the ball home.

The hosts were far more cohesive in a thrilling second half, and took the lead after 55 minutes when Tom Wyn Roberts scored following a Mark Gornall free kick.

However, from the kick off, Carno broke clear and Scott Williams drove forward and squared for Peter Rees to tap home.

Just before the hour Carno defender Daniel Lewis was sent off for two bookings - but the visitors had a golden chance to snatch the points when keeper Ben Willis kept out a penalty from Peter Rees.

“A draw was a fair result,” said Bow Street manager Barry Williams. “Carno are a very good side, and will be challenging at the top end of the table all season.

“Even this early in the season, injuries are mounting up and taking their toll on the squad, so I am happy to announce that we have re-signed the vastly experienced Stefano Antoniazzi today. He will be a valuable asset for us over the season.”

Mikey Gornall scored a superb hat-trick as Aberaeron notched their first win of the season with a 3-0 success over Llandrindod Wells, in their first home match.

Both teams had lost their first three fixtures, but Aberaeron started strongly and came close to scoring through Sion Clarke.

The visitors worked hard and managed to get to half time on level terms, but Aberaeron were encouraged to continue to get the ball on the floor and play football.

The second half started positively for the hosts, although keeper Barry Edwards was called upon to make a smart save.

Aberaeron, however, made the breakthrough when a shot on goal was handled, and Mikey Gornall sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Within a few minutes Mikey Gornall turned sharply in the box and was upended for another penalty, and again this was dispatched with aplomb by Gornall.

With time running out, Aberaeron were running amok and impressive substitute Liam Jaques waltzed through to lay a simple tap in for Gornall for his hat-trick, to seal a deserved win for the Seagulls.

After their disappointing midweek loss away at Carno, Llanidloes Town got back on track with a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Borth United at Victoria Avenue.

Manager Hugh Clarke was pleased with the response that took his side joint top with Llanrhaeadr, who hold pole position by virtue of a superior goal difference.

The Daffs were ahead after just two minutes through Rhys Evans, before well-taken strikes late in the second half from Richie Evans and Joe Evans clinched their fourth league win of the new season.

"We were a lot better against Borth, and it was good to keep a clean sheet," said manager Clarke. "We were the better side, and I don’t think our keeper had a save to make.

"We had ample opportunities to have made life easier, but when it is 1-0 you are always a bit edgy."

He added: "We would have settled for 12 points from five games, and we just need to concentrate on ourselves."

Tywyn/Bryncrug showed great fighting spirit as they twice hit back from being a goal down to claim a dramatic 2-2 draw at Welshpool Town in the Spar Mid Wales League division two on Friday evening.

Will Thomas took the lead for the Lilywhites going into half time, but Tywyn responded positively and they equalised early in the second half, when Aled Jones fired into the top corner from 25 yards.

Thomas regained lead with his second goal of the game with 20 minutes to go, but Tywyn battled to the end and got their equaliser in dying minutes when Mike Leuty scored from a scramble in the box, after a great ball in from Ben Richards.

Machynlleth meanwhile slipped to their third defeat in four games as a Josh Atherton brace and Joe Haycock earned Churchstoke a solid 3-0 away victory.

Llanrhaeadr kept pace at the top of the table as two penalties from Dan Graham, strikes by Gus Harris and Huw France and a Joe Vaughan header sealed a 5-2 away win against Berriew, who scored through Rob Pritchard and Karl Seliartes.

Llanfair United’s Steve Andrews, Andrew Hughes, Phil Hughes and Toby Evans all netted as Llanfair United won 4-3 at Radnor Valley, who stayed in touch via a Joey Price brace and Ieuan Price.
