BOW STREET Reserves moved three points clear at the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one with a 2-1 win over Tregaron Turfs last weekend.

Two goals from Shaun Jones ensured they maintained their unbeaten league record, with two games to go, and although second-placed Bont have a game in hand, they have inferior goal difference to the Magpies.

Tregaron scored through a Llyr Davies penalty, but although they are now 13 points adrift, they still have four games in hand on the leaders.

The Turfs had also missed a chance to close in on Bow Street in midweek as they were beaten 3-1 at Llanilar.

Goals by Rhys Morgan, Shon Morgans and Rhydian ap Owen sentenced the Turfs to their second league defeat of the campaign, despite a Cerith Davies goal keeping them in touch.

Bont had also dropped crucial points on Friday as they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by in-form Aberystwyth University Reserves at Blaendolau.

Nathan Ash scored the only goal of the game to sentence Bont to their second league defeat of the season, and they will be looking for revenge over the students when the two sides meet in the reverse fixture this weekend.

On Friday evening, Padarn United won 3-2 at Borth United Reserves, courtesy of goals from Dan Parry, Paul Griffiths and the birthday boy James Graham, with the winner.

Machynlleth Reserves meanwhile won 5-2 at Llanilar last weekend, whilst Penrhyncoch Reserves held local rivals Talybont to a goalless draw.

Ben Holt scored four goals as Tywyn/Bryncrug Reserves beat Llanon 7-3 in the Second Division Trophy, with Luke Rickard adding a brace and Andy Papirnyk also on target.

Penparcau have registered back-to-back wins in the Second Division Trophy, with a 2-1 away win against Tywyn/Bryncrug Reserves in midweek.

Darren Williams netted his first goal for the club to make it 1-0 at half-time, and despite Ben Holt pulling a goal back for Tywyn, Dylan Bailey ran from half way to slot under the advancing keeper with 20 minutes to go.

Rhys Davies scored a hat-trick as Penparcau followed that with a solid 5-0 win over Aberdyfi at the weekend, with Jake Bush and Jordan Lee Perry also on target for the Arky outfit.

A James Graham goal had earned Padarn United Reserves a 1-0 at home to Aberdyfi on Wednesday evening.

Jamie Stuart meanwhile fired in a hat-trick as Aberystwyth University Reserves beat Machynlleth Reserves 4-0 in their Len and Julia Newman Memorial quarter final tie in midweek, with Nathan Ash also scoring.

The students will face Bow Street in the semi-finals on Tuesday, 1 May.
