ALED Jones fired a well-taken hat-trick as Tywyn/Bryncrug maintained winning ways in the Spar Mid Wales League division one with a 5-1 win over Borth United on Wednesday evening.

On a sunny night, with a stiff breeze from the south, Borth elected to play against the wind in the first half, and the visitors took only a few minutes to take the lead as the alert Aled Jones slid the ball beyond keeper Alex Pennock.

Borth created some good chances and deservedly equalised on 15 minutes when Clive Morgan scored from the penalty spot, after an infringement in the box, and despite both teams’ eagerness, it remained at 1-1 at the interval.

With the wind at their backs, it only took three minutes for the visitors to regain the lead as Tom Allen-Davies scored with a cool finish, and on the half-hour Aled Jones made it 3-1 with a brilliant volley at the far post.

Five minutes later Jones scored again with a superb free kick from 20 yards out to complete his well-deserved hat-trick, and in the final minutes Mark Edmondson scored with a deft finish for a comprehensive win.

Drew Page also scored a hat-trick as Machynlleth moved away from relegation trouble with a 3-1 win over Aberaeron on Wednesday evening.

The only disappointment for Mach was Sion Daf being sent off two bookings, and Callum Page being taken to hospital with a suspected broken collar bone.

Ian Probert also fired three goals as Welshpool Town registered a 5-2 midweek win at Churchstoke, with Will Thomas and Adam Davies also scoring.

Stoke replied through Jamie Betton and a screamer from Aidan Oakley.

Kerry made it back-to-back wins as they hit back to claim a 4-3 over Berriew, with Keane Marks levelling for the Lambs midway through the first half.

Goals from James Price, Mark Hughes and Luke Mumford secured the three points in the second half, despite Berriew finding the net through Luke Vickers, Josh Morgan and Marc Jones.

Kieran Mccarley scored twice as Llandrindod Wells notched a 4-1 win over Carno, with further goals from Ashley Jones and Ben Jones. Joe Morris replied.

In division two, goals from Dave Anthony, debutant Huw McGrath and an own goal ensured that Abermule got back to winning ways with a solid 3-0 home win against Dyffryn Banw.

Brecon Northcote triumphed 5-1 against Talgarth Town, and on Monday evening Aberystwyth University won 4-3 away against Dyffryn Banw.
