Borth United lost their penultimate home league match in the MMP Mid Wales League division two with a 3-2 defeat to Four Crosses last weekend.

With the visitors looking to make a late challenge for the runners-up position behind champions Montgomery, they created some good chances in the first quarter.

A long range shot struck the post, but Borth seemed to have contained them until Harry Davies scored with a cool finish at the far post just a minute before the interval.

Borth were further stunned by an early second half goal, as Harry Davies scored his second with a superb low shot into the bottom corner.

Borth’s forwards generally found it difficult to penetrate a solid defence, but they were handed a lifeline on 70 minutes when Ben Willis’s long punt into the Crosses’ half resulted in the defender heading the ball passed the visiting keeper for an own goal.

Borth sensed a late equaliser and a Ryan Davies free kick, taken wide out on the left wing, was headed into the net at the far post by their man of the match, Clive Morgan.

With only seconds of the match remaining, however, a last-gasp Crosses attack resulted in Paul Bache scoring with a low shot for what proved the winning goal.

Owain Williams scored a hat-trick as Dolgellau beat Waterloo Rovers 4-1 at the Marian, with David Edwards also finding the net. Mike Jones scored for the visitors.

Machynlleth notched a very creditable 1-1 draw against champions Montgomery Town, with Dillon Browne netting for the home team.

Matty Tong scored a hat-trick as Hay St Mary’s beat Abermule 3-0, and Lyndon Jones scored twice as Newbridge won 4-0 at Dyffryn Banw, with Aeron Powell and Jake Bufton also scoring.
