NEFYN United bowed out of the FAW Trophy, at the fourth round stage, after being put to the sword by Denbigh Town in a 5-1 defeat at their Cae’r Delyn ground.
Nefyn, who had kicked off short of three key players in Josh Roberts, Tomos Jones and Daniel Roberts, had opened the scoring through Steve Jones.
Denbigh’s Jake Walker equalised six minutes later, and then on 34 the same player converted a penalty past Ian Aikman, after a handball offence.
Denbigh mounted a late take-over as Walker converted another spot-kick on 75 minutes, also for handball, and Mark Roberts bagged a brace on 80 and 87 minutes, and the defeat was compounded by Ifan Gwilym’s late dismissal for two yellow cards.
Barmouth and Dyffryn United’s adventures ended in a 5-0 drubbing at Nantlle Vale, but just one goal had separated them at half-time.
Aaron Thomas opened the scoring on 35 minutes, and Barmouth’s fate was sealed as Vale hit two more goals in a minute early in the second session, through Callum Davies and Aaron Hughes.
Rob Murfet slammed a free-kick against the post for Barmouth, but Chris Mahoney netted on 76 and then Luke Roberts on 87 minutes.
Rhos Aelwyd remain on course for a second final appearance in three years after beating Gaerwen 4-2 to reach the last 16, thanks to goals from Ryan Jenkins, Scott Reeves, Iolo Hughes and Danny Eccles. Gerallt Jones and Llion Hughes had got replies for the Anglesey outfit.
Elsewhere in the competition, Holyhead Hotspur were 2-0 winners at Bodedern Athletic, with Chris Jones putting the visitors in front with a 25-yard chip, before Robert Jones netted late on.
Sam Roberts, Liam Doran and Sam Jones were on target for Llanrwst United in a 3-1 victory at Llay Welfare, while Andy Noonan delivered a late winner for Brymbo as they won 1-0 at Llanrug United to reach the last 16.
Dave Maddock scored twice as Llandudno Albion won 5-2 at Carno, with Joe Morgan, Jack Williams and Adam Hold also scoring. Joe Morris and Callum Jones netted consolation for the hosts.
Cefn Mawr Rangers lost 4-1 to Welshpool Town, with goals from Will Thomas, with a brace, Jake Mann and an own goal, whilst Aron Blackwell netted the reply.
Lex XI were hammered 7-0 at home to Berriew, with Niall Thomas, Joe Haycock, Richard Davies, Xavier Matisse, with a brace, Harry Watkins and George Mitten all getting on the scoresheet.
