NEFYN United’s near-perfect start to the Gwynedd League season was extended to five matches unbeaten, with four wins and a draw, when they defeated Menai Bridge Tigers 2-0 on their own ground.
Following an emphatic 11-0 win over Llanllyfni in midweek, Chris Jones’ side snapped up second half goals from Steven Jones on 56 minutes and Danny Roberts on 70 to beat the Tigers, with 13 league points banked out of a possible 15.
On a remarkably successful day for all six away sides, Llanystumdwy imposed a 7-3 defeat on their Anglesey opponents, Beaumaris Town, at their adopted ground at Bangor City’s 3G facility at Nantporth.
Even so, only two marksmen were involved for Llanystumdwy, Sion Parry continuing his exploits with four efforts on target, after seven minutes, 21, 35 from a penalty and 62, while Rhys Hughes’s hat-trick came on three, 34 and 78.
Beaumaris made their impact through Shaun Lock finding the net on 16 minutes and Darren Lewthwaite on 53 and 70.
In midweek, Llanystumdwy had won 4-1 away against Talysarn Celts, courtesy of two goals from Sion Parry and single goals by Rhys Hughes and Darren Parry.
Bro Goronwy were the biggest away winners last weekend, thrashing Talysarn Celts 8-1, with three goals from Andy Williams, two from Connor Jones and one each by Dylan Jones, Taylor Jones and Liam Willingham. Talysarn managed a penalty reply from Thomas Usher on 80.
Llangoed dominated 6-3 at Llanllyfni, where remarkably the teams had fired blanks for an hour but then both let rip to provide a swashbuckling finale.
The winners’ goals were credited to Sion Morris on 75 and 89 minutes, Cole Whittle on 76 and 87, Carwyn Williams on 77 and David Thomas on 79 minutes, whereas Llanllyfni’s list involved Jason Taylor on 60 minutes and Iwan Evans on 69 and 85.
Holyhead Town imposed a 5-2 tally at Waunfawr, through Jordan Murphy on 40 minutes from a penalty and 79, Mike Davies on 61, Dion Jones’s own-goal on 72 and Tom Hadley on 87, while the hosts had their pair from Sion Roberts on 38 and 75.
Bontnewydd were 3-1 winners away at Gwalchmai, the hosts having struck first through Craig Evans on 30 minutes, before the take-over came thanks to Gari Owen on 53 and 57 and Aled Steele on 65.
