NEFYN United bowed out of the Bob Owen Memorial Shield, at the second round stage, when losing 6-2 at home to Aberffraw, who prospered by means of Andrew Jones’s hat-trick.
The Cae’r Delyn hosts gained their goals from Gethin Trenholme after 38 minutes and Mitchell Rowlands on 44.
Aberffraw, however, prevailed by means of Jones’s well-taken treble, after five, 42 and 44 minutes, Gary Bolton’s double on 32 and 75, plus a single goal by Nicky Edwards on 19.
Two other Shield ties were postponed because of waterlogged grounds, including Bodedern Athletic’s tie against Waunfawr and Menai Bridge Tigers’ game with Felinheli.
Llanystumdwy registered a hard earned 1-1 draw on their visit to Cemaes Bay in the Gwynedd League, in a clash between two title hopefuls.
Llanystumdwy had gained the lead through Richard Evans after 29 minutes, with Cemaes equalising through Steve Whitaker on 44 minutes, to provide the same result as in the teams’ meeting at Dwyfor Park in August.
The result meant that Cemaes Bay and Llanystumdwy moved up to second and third positions, with identical returns of 27 points from 14 games, and separated only by goal difference.
Waunfawr are next below them, also on 27 points, while Felinheli remain the title frontrunners with 31 points.
Talysarn Celts netted a stoppage-time winner theough Gary Jones to secure a 3-2 win away at Bontnewydd.
Talysarn came from behind twice, with Joe Jukes netting on 46 minutes and Gary Jones, with the equaliser on 80, ahead of his deciding goal on 93.
Bont had fired themselves in front through Gareth Edwards after seven minutes and Gary Owen after 75.
Beaumaris dominated their bottom-three battle with Bangor University by a 5-2 margin, thanks to Cameron Kelly scoring on 19 minutes, Darren Ishmael on 47, Danny Camilleri on 82 and 91 and Scott Hughes on 88.
The students had second half replies from Alex Jones on 64 and 90 minutes.
