NEFYN United, who are preparing for their second cup final of the season on Friday in the Gwynedd League’s Bob Owen Memorial Shield, completed their league programme with a battling 2-2 draw against Llangoed.

Nefyn, who lost the away fixture with Llangoed 2-1 in September, but then beat them 3-2 in their Safeflue Shield semi-final match in extra-time, led twice in the Cae’r Delyn re-run.

Danny Roberts had steered Chris Jones’ side in front after a quarter-of-an-hour, but then Llangoed’s Jay Finter equalised just five minutes later.

Nefyn went 2-1 up thanks to Meical Williams netting on 55 minutes, but the Anglesey visitors regained parity through Llion Roberts on 63 and the score remained like that to the end.

Little was at stake for either of these mid-table opponents, although midfielder Terry Ogilvy impressed for Nefyn, while a debut was given to 16-year-old Kaynor Miranda, as a goalkeeper stand-in for the unavailable Dafydd Jones and Alun Jones.

Three days earlier Nefyn had registered a 3-2 win over Bontnewydd Nefyn United, courtesy of goals from Meical Williams on 23 minutes, Danny Roberts on 54 and Terry Ogilvy with a late winner on 86. Bontnewydd had twice hit back to level terms through goals from Morgan Roberts on 35 minutes and Dan Evans on 80.

Next-up for Nefyn is Bro Goronwy, the league title runners-up, at Caernarfon Town’s ground this Friday, with the Bob Owen Memorial Shield on offer to the winners (ko 7pm).

The Cae’r Delyn team is awaiting developments over their North Wales Coast Junior Cup Final opponents, with the prolonged quarter-final protest involving Valley and Bontnewydd still unresolved, and the semi-final with Gwalchmai still to be played.

Llanystumdwy’s late-season disappointments continued with a third straight defeat, when they lost at home to Bro Goronwy 5-2, which leaves them looking at finishing no better than third-placed in the table.

The Dwyfor Park hosts’ goals came from Sion Parry on 60 and Mark Godfrey on 90, in reply to the visitors’ nap-hand by Carwyn Williams on 38, Taylor Jones on 44, Jac Thomas on 72 and 81 and Chris Byast also on 90.

Newly acclaimed champions Holyhead Town won again at Talysarn Celts by a 4-1 margin, the main feature being Asa Thomas’s hat-trick, after 16, 67 and 84 minutes, with Sion Davies also netting on 79, as against the home team’s Celt Owen on 88.

In midweek, Talysarn beat Beaumaris Town 4-0, with goals by Tom Usher on 23 minutes, Cynan Davies on 29, and Glyn Tomos either side of the interval on 36 and 51 minutes.

• In the Cwpan Gwynedd Meditel semi-finals Gwalchmai crashed out of the competition with a 6-0 defeat to Bro Goronwy on Wednesday evening.

Jac Thomas led the way with a well-taken hat-trick on 21, 26 and 50 minutes, along with goals from Carwyn Williams on 5, Taylor Jones on 60 and finally Carwyn Williams on 83.

Holyhead Town had already booked their place in their final on Monday, as second half goals from Asa Thomas on 65 minutes, Jordie Murphy on 72 and Shaun Davies on 86 earned them a 3-1 win over Llangoed, who had taken an interval lead through Martin Byast’s opener after 18 minutes.

That final will be played next Friday, 25 May at Llangefni Town FC.
