CENTRAL Wales FA’s hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Regions Cup ended with a 9-1 defeat to a strong North Wales Coast side at Aberystwyth’s Park Avenue on Wednesday evening.

Mark Orme’s visitors had travelled with only 12 players, but they included players from Welsh Alliance clubs, and proved too strong for a home side made up of players from the Costcutter Ceredigion and Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth Leagues, as well as Montgomeryshire.

Newcastle Emlyn’s Adrian Hazelby had equalised early on for Central Wales, but Llandudno Albion duo Ricky Jones and Dave Maddock both scored twice, along with doubles from Jamie Jones and Dan Williams, with Allan Davies completing the scoring for the visitors.

Central Wales are scheduled to face North East Wales in their final match at Airbus UK Broughton on Wednesday, whilst North Wales Coast play North East Wales at Conwy next month to decide the winners of the section.

Previously, Central Wales had lost 3-2 to the Coast away and drew 2-2 with North East at home, with East beating the Coast 2-0 at home.
