PADARN United made high-flying Forden United battle all the way for a place in the third round of the Central Wales Senior Cup, with the Mongomeryshire Amateur League division two side eventually edging through 5-4 on penalties.

With Forden having won all their league games, as well as taking several scalps in the Cups, Padarn went into the tie at Newtown’s Latham Park as underdogs.

The Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth District League side got an early breakthrough though, as Jason Davies curled in a shot from the edge of the penalty box.

Forden responded positively and they pinned Padarn back in their own half for the majority of the first half, only for resolute defending and the crossbar to initially deny them a goal.

An equaliser finally arrived on 70 minutes through Carl Phillips, and Forden also hit the crossbar as Padarn held on for extra time.

Forden looked to have won it when they took a 2-1 lead in the second period through Ryan Sutton, but Padarn then threw everyone forward and a well worked cross found Paul James at the edge of the box to squeeze in an equaliser.

The penalty shoot-out followed, with Padarn only missing one spot kick which hit the bar, whilst Forden held their nerve to win with conversions by Ryan Jenkins, Darryl Jones, Brad Carr, Michael Henderson-Smith and Carl Phillips.

• A Joe Jenkins hat-trick helped steer Felinfach to a 7-2 win away at Aberdyfi in the Emrys Morgan Cup - and the Milkmen have been drawn away again against the winners of the tie between Builth Wells Reserves and Llanfair Utd Reserves.

Gareth Pearce, Lewis Evans, Rhys Jones and Jamie Davies were also on target for dominant Felinfach, with Tomos Jones scoring a brace for Aberdyfi.

Bont meanwhile bowed out with a 2-1 defeat at Mid Wales (South) League side Newcastle, despite David Beck scoring for the visitors.

Goals from Richard Jones and Carl Price ensured that the Shropshire club will go on to face either Llanrhaeadr Reserves or Brecon Northcote in round four.

Bishops Castle also progressed as goals from Jake Cintra, with a brace, Gaz Bromley and George Mellor earned a 4-1 win over fellow Montgomerysire League outfit Llangedwyn, with James Broadbent replying.

• Llandysul bounced back from an early exit in the Emrys Morgan Cup to hammer Penrhyncoch Reserves 12-0 in the Cwpan Coffa Dai ‘Dynamo’ Davies knockout.

Scott Jones opened the visitors’ account with a long range effort, before Carwyn Morgan scored two well taken goals and Chris Harries made it 4-0 at the break.

It was one-way traffic in the second half, with Scott Jones and Harris completing their hat-tricks, along with goals from Josh Baker, Jesse Clayton, Lewis Jones and a Dean Jones penalty.
