PENPARCAU made it seven wins from seven matches in the MMP Mid Wales League division two as two goals from Ryan Edwards sealed an excellent 2-0 win over visitors Dyffryn Banw at Min-y-ddol.

The win moved them to within a point of leaders Machynlleth, with two games in hand, and they were looking to move back top of the table on Monday against Aberystwyth University at Park Avenue.

Machynlleth, who notched a 2-1 win over Dolgellau in the Central Wales Senior Challenge Cup in midweek, with Richie Evans scoring both their goals, were left frustrated as their league match against Presteigne was postponed on Saturday.Joseph Bell netted a first half winner as Borth United held firm to notch a hard-earned 1-0 win over Rhayader Town, to move up to sixth position in the table.

Rhayader could have opened the scoring as they hit the bar and post, and enjoyed the majority of possession, before Borth took the lead on the stroke of half time.

Dion Ellis-Clark’s right wing cross was met by an unmarked Joe Bell, who headed passed the keeper to give the home side a slender one goal lead at the interval.

Rhayader created the better goal scoring chances again in the second half, but as the playing conditions deteriorated Borth’s defence held firm, with keeper Ben Willis denying the visitors a draw.Aberystwyth University were 3-1 winners over Forden United at Newtown’s Latham Park as goals from Adam Gascoigne, Daniel Swift and Jonathan Ackroyd secured their fourth league triumph.

Forden had their fair share of possession, with Josh Gethin getting on the scoresheet, but the clinical students took their chances to secure the three points.

Jake Mantell scored twice and Tom Ellis once as Waterloo Rovers beat Churchstoke 3-1, to move up to fourth position.
