NEWLY-PROMOTED Penparcau made it two wins from two in the MMP Mid Wales League division two as they followed up their midweek win over Machynlleth with a 2-0 win over Newbridge.
Mattie Davies scored twice in the first half to set up their second win, and a solid performance from the midfield and defence ensured a clean sheet against a very good young Newbridge side.
After notching back-to-back wins, Borth United had to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Dyffryn Banw on Friday evening.
An error in defence allowed Alwyn Jones to score the opener for Banw after just eight minutes, but Borth responded well, with Gethin ap Dafydd slotting a through ball to Iolo ap Dafydd, who saw his shot saved, and Bryn McGilligan Oliver also struck the post from a free kick.
Borth levelled in the second half when the Banw keeper could only punch the ball out to Bryn McGilligan Oliver, who volleyed home, and as the visitors sensed a win on one of their bogey grounds Sam Davies had a chance to score at the far post - but the keeper made a superb save to deny Borth a third successive win.
Machynlleth notched their first win of the season as they came away from Forden United with a solid 4-0 win, after Jac Petrie, with a brace, Charlie Jellet and Callum Page had netted the goals.
David Edwards scored a hat-trick as Dolgellau also recorded their first win of the season with a convincing 4-0 triumph at Knighton Town, with Jamie Jones also scoring.
Tommy Rowlands hit a brace as Rhayader beat Churchstoke 6-0, with Jamie Evans, Taylor Wozencraft, Tony Davies and Jordan McFadden also netting.
A brace from defender Dyfrig Rees earned Abermule a 5-3 win as they hit back from two goals down to beat Presteigne 5-3, with Tommy Jones, Jack Jarman and Stuart Emberton also scoring. Presteigne had scored through Lewis Jones, Tom Crichton and an own goal.
