PENPARCAU will fly the flag for the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League into the semi-finals of the Emrys Morgan Cup after they twice hit back to win 4-2 against Guilsfield Reserves.

The Montgomeryshire Amateur League side took an early lead through Danny Barton, but that lead was shortlived as Penparcau’s Mattie Davies turned sharply on the edge of the box and drilled in a cross for Liam Jaques to poke home.

Graham McGill restored the Guils’ lead with a well-taken free kick from the edge of the box, but Arky levelled again when a long ball over the top found Andrew Gittins to fire past the advancing keeper.

The hosts saw a penalty hit the crossbar and bounce to safety, but it was Penparcau who took the lead when wing back Antony Evans broke down the right flank and slotted the ball home for 3-2.

At the other end, a McGill header appeared to cross the line, but play was waved on, and Penparcau sealed victory when Mattie Davies converted to make it 4-2, after some good work by Evans.

The other Cambrian Tyres League survivors, Bow Street Reserves, bowed out of the competition with a 5-1 defeat at Costcutter Ceredigion League side Lampeter.

Jason Jones scored twice to make it 2-0 to the North Road men at the interval, and although the Magpies responded on the hour, two quick-fire goals from new signing Rhys Douglas and one for Gethin Hunter secured the win for Lampeter.

St Dogmaels are also through to the last four of this year's competition after comfortably beating fellow Costcutter Ceredigion League side Crannog 5-0 away.

Pete Almond nodded home the opening goal for the Saints on 20 minutes, and with the wind advantage after the break, the visitors sealed a convincing victory with two goal apiece from Rhys Jones and Louis Harding, including a penalty.

Bishops Castle will fly the flag for the Montgomeryshire League after beating Trefonen on penalties, after the scores remained locked at 1-1 after extra-time.

Castle went 1-0 up midway through the first half through Mark Griffiths, but missed chances proved costly when Graham Dyke equalised in the second half.

Goalkeeper Joe Mackay saved three of the penalties in the shoot-out, with Mark Griffiths, Alex Jones, Dan Dawson and George Mellor all netting from the spot.

The semi-finals will see Lampeter take on St Dogmaels at Newcastle Emlyn on Tuesday, 26 March, whilst Penparcau will take on Bishops Castle at Caersws on Wednesday 27 March.
