PENRHYNCOCH took their number of league wins in the JD Cymru North into double figures with a 2-0 home win over Llangefni Town - and Gari Lewis’ side will welcome Rhyl to Cae Baker in good spirits this weekend.

Just two points now separate the two teams, and a home win could lift the Roosters into an impressive top six position in the league standings.

Looking to build on a goalless home draw with Bangor City, the Roosters scored twice in the first half through Ifan Burrell and Steffan Davies, and there was no way back for Llangefni.

The visitors pushed on in the second half, but some impressive saves from Leigh Jenkins, and another resilient display from Penrhyn’s rearguard ensured they kept another clean sheet.

Prestatyn moved 15 points clear at the top with a 4-1 win at Ruthin, after Craig Wilkinson had put the hosts in front. Oliver Buckley, Danny Davies and a Myles Hart double secured it.

Gresford Athletic hammered Porthmadog 7-1, despite trailing at half-time to Shaun Cavanagh’s goal. Second half doubles by Danny Holland and sub Alex Buxton, and singles by Jake Eyre, Jack Jones, Joe Chaplin and sub Alex Buxton ensured a big win.

Llanfair drew 2-2 with Llandudno, with Ryan McVeigh and Karl Seliaerts cancelling out Cory Williams’ double.

Corwen drew 1-1 with Bangor, with Joe Williams’ penalty cancelled out by Santiago Chacon’s equaliser, and Alex Downes scored the only goal as Colwyn Bay won 1-0 at Llanrhaeadr.
