PENRHYNDEUDRAETH continued their good late-season form in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance One as they notched a 3-1 win over St Asaph City, to complete a home-and-away double.
Having snatched a 2-1 result over St Asaph at their own ground in December, the team, now managed by Gareth Piercy, prospered again in the away return.
Penrhyn found themselves in arrears to Luke Windlass’ goal from a penalty for St Asaph on 33 minutes and that held until the interval.
Penrhyn’s endeavours in the second period paid off when they rattled in conclusive goals by Steve Jones on 58 and 62 minutes and Meilir Williams on 81 minutes.
Last Thursday, goals from Steve Jones on 16 minutes and Iwan Thomas on 21 had earned Penrhyndeudraeth a 2-0 win at Llanrwst United.
Two days earlier, however, Penrhyn were beaten 4-0 away against Pwllheli, through second half goals from Mark Jones on 60 minutes, Steven Toplis, with a brace on 70 and 75 and Ifan Gwilyn right on 90 minutes.
Pwllheli, however, were beaten 8-1 at title-chasing Conwy Borough on Thursday, courtesy of a hat-trick from Corrig McGonigle on 15, 23 and 70 minutes, Cory Williams om 24, Dean Seager on 26 and 63, and Adam Whitlock on 59 and 80. Lee Whittaker replied on 44.
Pwllheli were also beaten 6-4 by another relegation-threatened side, Nantlle Vale, despite goals from Dylan Jones on 8 minutes and Mark Jones on 10 providing Pwllheli with a flying start.
Nantlle hit back through Rhys Williams twice, on 36 and 42 minutes, to make the situation 2-2 at half-time, and although Pwllheli netted through Mark Jones and Dylan Jones again in the second half, Vale sealed victory through Rob Owen on 70 minutes and Gareth Parry and Aaron David Thomas twice in a late blitz of goals.
Barmouth and Dyffryn United gained nothing from one of their longest Alliance assignments, to Trearddur Bay United, involving a four hours’ round-trip and which brought a 3-0 defeat.
Goals for the hosts by Guy Hughes on seven minutes, Matthew Jones on 22 and Dave Webb on 39 had the points in the bag before the interval; and there was no change in the second period.
In midweek, first half goals from Shane Jones on 24 minutes and Paul Lewis on 35 and 41 had eared Bamouth a 3-0 win at Nantlle Vale.
League leaders Llangefni Town maintained their push for honours by beating Llanrwst 2-0, with goals from Matthew Jones on 31 minutes and Iwan Jones on 88.
Rivals Conwy Borough were also winners, at Llandyrnog United by a 4-1 score, their goals being hit by Matthew Hughes on 20 minutes, Corrig McGonigle on 33 from a penalty, Corey Williams on 60 and Tom Creamer on 69, all after the hosts’ Billy Holmes had scored on 17 from a penalty.

Llanrug Utd’s Dylan Owen scored on 62 minutes to earn a 1-1 draw with Llanberis, who had opened the scoring via Carl McDonald on 40.
Last Tuesday, Llanrug Utd were beaten 3-1 by Trearddur Bay through goals from Craig Moore, with a brace on 16 and 38 minutes, and Stephan Drudiek on 39. Dylan Owen netted a 63rd minute reply with a penalty.
