MANAGER Gari Lewis says that he is relishing Saturday’s showdown with big guns Caernarfon Town at Cae Baker as he looks for his Penrhyncoch side to continue their recent resurgence.

After back-to-back league wins, they will be out to make it three on the trot as they to bid to continue their climb to safety in the HG Cymru Alliance.

Penrhyncoch had also eased into the fourth round of the Central Wales Cup in midweek with a comfortable 3-0 passage against Spar Mid Wales League division one side Welshpool at Cae Baker.

The Roosters dominated possession throughout in tough playing conditions, and they took the lead with a deflected strike from Harri Horwood.

Jon Foligno doubled the advantage with a header before the break, and Horwood completed the scoring after the interval, with a right foot volley.

Penrhyn were left on the sidelines last weekend as the trip to basement rivals Mold Alex was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, but will look to hit the ground running on Saturday (2.30pm).

“We were told the game was off just before we set off, their pitch was holding water in the corner,” Lewis said.

“It was disappointing for the team, as the boys are in a good place at the moment, and have picked up a bit of a momentum, but these things happen.

“We’ve now got a massive game on Saturday against Caernarfon Town, who are a great club who should really be playing in the Welsh Premier.

“They have suffered a bit of a hangover this season, after being denied promotion, but they have a lot of quality and they’re a danger all over the pitch.

“They have been a little bit inconsistent, but when they click they are frightening. I hope that they have one of their more inconsistent days against us.”

Penrhyn, who remain fifth from bottom, have seen an upturn in fortunes with a 1-0 win over Conwy Borough and a 2-0 success at another of the basement sides, Llanfair United, lifting them away from the basement zone.

Lewis hopes to be close to full strength, with Antonio Corbisiero back in contention after a hamstring injury.
