Llandudno 4 Penrhyncoch 0
IT proved to be a disappointing weekend for Penrhyncoch as they were blasted away by four second-half Llandudno goals in this mid-table JD Cymru North clash.
Despite the 4-0 scoreline, it was a spirited performance by the 14 that travelled to Maesdu Park with four first-team players missing.
After a keenly-contested opening period with both sides creating and missing a few chances, the floodgates opened after the turnaround.
The deadlock was broken on 53 minutes courtesy of Daniel Paul Hughes and the advantage was soon doubled through Anthony Marshall.
And the result was more or less put to bed when Alfons Fosu-Mensah made it 3-0 on the hour.
Llandudno kept pressing and made sure that they moved within a point of the Roosters in the table with a fourth goal on 73 minutes scored by Dean Christopher Seager.
In the other matches played, runaway league leaders Prestatyn Town made it a perfect 10 straight wins as they maintained a seven-point lead at the summit with a magnificent 7-0 thrashing of Llanfair United at the Motion Finance Stadium.
The Seasiders opened their account on five minutes when a pass from Jordan Davies to the right found Alex Jones, who fired home.
Jack Kenny claimed his 15th goal of the campaign in the 14th minute after keeper Danny Foulkes parried the initial effort by Dan Roberts.
Jack Higgins headed the third on the stroke of half time before James Stead slotted home number four on 51 minutes.
Kenny was red-carded moments later but the hosts kept on pushing for goals.
Gethin Jones was sent off for the visitors after 73 minutes, before Stead nutmegged the keeper for 5-0 and then finished off a Davies assist to complete his hat-trick.
There was still time for Jordan Davies to win a penalty which he converted himself in the absence.
Penrhyncoch will be hoping to bring Prestatyn’s impressive run to a halt on Saturday when they welcome Neil Gibson’s men to Cae Baker on Saturday.
