PENRHYNDEUDRAETH triumphed 6-0 over Greenfield as Mike Foster’s team moved up to second spot in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one last weekend.

Meilir Williams netted a hat-trick in just six minutes towards the end as Penrhyn got back on track after a 2-0 midweek defeat at Llanberis, where an own goal and a Gerald Laidlaw strike had sentenced them to defeat last Wednesday evening.

Against Greenfield, Dave Copsey netted on 21 minutes and Tom Smith on 33 for a 2-0 interval lead, before a goal from ex-Blaenau Ffestiniog midfielder Gary Hughes on 69 minutes, were followed by Williams’s late trio timed at 84, 85 and 90.

Pwllheli thought the points were in the bag, when they led 3-2 against Llandudno Junction with 90 minutes played but they were then stunned by two desperately late goals as they incredibly lost 4-3.

Rhodri Scott tucking away an 18th minute penalty, Tomos Jones slammed home a free-kick on 41 and Adam Hall firing in on 45, but Junction, replied with goals from Lee Ellis on 41 and 60 minutes.

Ellis then added a late-late double, with a chip over keeper Gethin Roberts on 90, and from a few yards out in injury time.

In midweek, Pwllheli had won 6-3 at Barmouth and Dyffryn United, where goals from Tom Mahoney and Adam Hall were followed by four goals from Mark Jones, whilst Nathan Cottam, Elwyn Edwards and Ieun Brooks netted replies.

Barmouth are still looking for their first point after five league outings, following a 4-2 defeat at St Asaph City last weekend.

St Asaph took the lead through Chris Bennett on 36 minutes, only for Barmouth’s new striker Nathan Warren to equalise with a firm left-angled header.

St Asaph’s Andy Bell netted on 55 minutes, but Barmouth’s Rob Murfet levelled on 59, only for more home goals scored by Carl Murray on 64 and Bennett on 82.

Elsewhere, 2016 champions Trearddur Bay United beat Llanrwst United 4-0, with a goal from Bryn Roberts on 31 minutes and three more in the closing 20, from Asa Thomas, Roberts again and Dale Murphy.

Llanberis, who are tipped to be strong title contenders, had a significant 3-1 win over Llangefni, where Gareth Jones converted a penalty on 29 minutes, followed by goals from Gerald Laidlaw on 40 and Steff Jones on 55. James Saxon replied from the penalty spot on 74 minutes.

Glantraeth won 2-1 at Nantlle Vale with strikes by Marvin Pritchard on 17 minutes and Craig Wheeler on 82, with Aaron Hughes replying on 84, while Llandyrnog United’s Mark Roberts netted after seven and 23 minutes to beat Glan Conwy 2-0.

• Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs were beaten 1-0 in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division two at Amlwch, after Seiriol Edwards’ winning goal on 40 minutes.

In midweek, Blaenau had lost 2-1 at Llandudno Albion, where Duncan Midgley scored twice for the hosts, either side of an equaliser from Geraint Edwards.
