PORTHMADOG will be hoping for improved weather when Llanfair United make their first-ever visit to the Traeth in the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance on Saturday (ko 2.30pm).

The Llanfair Caereinion side had made a dream start to life in the Cymru Alliance, including a 5-1 win over Porthmadog, but have since dropped into the bottom three.

They bowed out of the Cymru Alliance Cup with a 4-1 defeat to Gresford at Newtown’s Latham Park last weekend.

Meanwhile Porthmadog were left frustrated when their game against Cefn Druids was called off because of a waterlogged pitch - the third consecutive game to be postponed at the Traeth.

Last time out, Porth’s three match winning run came to end with a 2-0 defeat at Denbigh, and manager Craig Papirnyk was keen to put things right.

“I was very disappointed to come away from Denbigh with no points, I think the early missed chances cost us the three points in the end," he said.

"I’ve seen us play better, we wasted some really good chances and were quite wasteful in possession throughout the game.

"I think not playing for two weeks over the Christmas period also had some affect on the lads, we looked off the pace. But the lads as always worked until the end, and I commend them always for the work ethic they put in for me and the club.

"With players returning to the squad, competition for places is high.

"Whatever the result, I know the lads will work hard and we will look to bounce back with a good performance in front of the Port faithful."
