PWLLHELI have cast aside a bleak run in the autumn by achieving back-to-back wins in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one, with a 2-1 win against strong Greenfield opposition.
Bolstered by the return of several players, Pwllheli matched their visitors in an absorbing first half, which produced several decent chances.
Mark Jones had a shot blocked, Tomos Jones chipped just wide and Lee Fletcher fired outside the post, whilst Jiri Kober, back between the posts, dealt with Greenfield’s best threats.
In the second half, Pwllheli’s Mark Jones scraped the bar from outside the box, before Lukacs Baltovic made the breakthrough on 49 minutes, when he converted from five yards, following Kyle Goodfellow’s run.
Greenfield’s keeper-captain Danny Stanton pulled off a fine save to deny Goodfellow, but the striker then found the net on 66 minutes, following Mark Jones’s right-wing supply.
An 82nd minute reply from Connor Hughes, with a left-angled shot, provided a tense finale to the game.
Barmouth and Dyffryn United continued their impressive upturn in fortunes by holding high-riding Llandyrnog United on their own ground.
The result at Cae Nant was 3-3 but Barmouth had led up to the last minute, when the hosts salvaged their equaliser through Shaun Davies.
Barmouth, who had drawn 2-2 with Llandyrnog at Wern Mynach last month, looked to be in trouble when two goals down in the away return.
Simon Hulse netted on 30 minutes and Tom Byast on 65, but then came a stirring fight-back from the visitors.
Between the 71st and 80th minutes, Barmouth took charge thanks to Iwan Kojs netting the first reply, followed by Dave Inglis and Chris Stevens.
Davies had the last say for the hosts in 90th minute, but Barmouth were still able to extend the rewarding run to six matches, for only one defeat.
Glan Conwy, who had been very much adrift as the bottom club, caused a huge shock by beating reigning champions Trearddur Bay 2-1.
It was Glan Conwy’s first success in 15 appearances, courtesy of goals from George Roberts after just two minutes and Ashley Parry on the hour, before Trearddur stirred with a reply from Jordan Murphy on 70.
Aaron Hughes scored a hat-trick for Nantlle Vale in their 5-3 win over St Asaph City, but the issue was only settled late on by two home goals.
Hughes found the net after 33, 48 and 86 minutes, after Rob Daniels had opened Vale’s account with barely three minutes played, and Rhys Williams squeezed a fifth goal on 87.
St Asaph played their part in a rousing encounter with replies from Josh Marshall on 34 minutes, Allan Parsonage on 41 and John Terry on 79.
Llandudno Junction meanwhile scored a goal in each half, by Joel Hewitt on 43 minutes and Merrick Knight on 70, to beat Llanrwst 2-0.
Llangefni Town beat Abergele Town 3-0 at their adopted home base at Llandudno’s 3G facility, with goals from Iwan Thomas on five and 40 minutes and Craig Evans after 85.
