PWLLHELI have been reinstated into division one of the Welsh Alliance following the withdrawal of Anglesey side Trearddur Bay.
A club statement said this week: “After speculation over the last few days we can confirm that following Trearddur Bay’s withdrawal from Welsh Alliance Division 1 we have been reinstated into Division 1 for the upcoming season.
“It is never nice to see a football club struggle and have to withdraw; everyone here at Pwllheli FC wish Trearddur Bay all the best for the future and hope to see them back playing soon.
“After a disastrous season last year we have made several changes at the club on and off the field to make sure we improve on last season.
“We aim to take full advantage of this opportunity given to us and we can’t wait for the season to start on 11 August against Mynydd Llandygai at home, our only home game in August.”
Pwllheli are gearing up nicely for the big kick following a convincing 4-1 win against Spar Mid Wales League outfit Bow Street. Lee Fletcher and Carl Jones were on target for the hosts whose cause was helped by two own goals.
Pwllheli’s new opening fixtures are: 11 August – Mynydd Llandygai (home); 18 August – Greenfield (away); 22 August – Llanrug (away); 25 August – Penrhyndeudraeth (away); 29 August – Llangefni (away); 1 September – Llannefydd (home) Welsh Cup Qualifying Round.
