Pwllheli got their new campaign in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division two off to a winning start as they came from behind to beat Aberffraw 3-1 at the Recreation Ground, with a gutsy display.
Matty Reynolds had fired the visitors ahead on 11 minutes, but Craig Papirnyk replied on 25, and Jordan Banks took the lead 10 minutes before the interval.
Showing even more commitment and flair in the second period, Pwllheli confirmed their right to the winners’ points through Mark Jones’ goal on 67 minutes.
Barmouth and Dyffryn United were consigned to a 6-0 defeat at Llannefydd, in a disappointing start for new manager, Iolo Owen, the former Wales Schools’ Under-19s chief and Porthmadog boss.
Without key players Shane Jones and Steve Bratt, Barmouth had gone behind on 35 minutes to an Elgan Roberts penalty and Tomos Jones then made it 2-0.
Soon after the interval, Ynyr Clwyd and Llion Morris made sure of the points, and Nico Llwyd and Nedw Clwyd ensured three brothers got onto the scoresheet.
Llandudno’s Amateurs’ first game at this level saw them suffer a last-gasp 1-0 home reverse to Gwalchmai, when Mark Warren Jones’ strike denied them a point.
Llandudno Junction’s Richard Hughes and Jack Nettleton earned them a 2-2 against Pentraeth, who had netted through Gwyndaf Hughes and Kian Abbott, whilst a Gary Jo Owen penalty and Asa Thomas earned Holyhead Town a 2-1 win over Penmaenmawr Phoenix, with Callum Johnson replying late on.
Luke McGivern scored twice as Amlwch beat Kinmel Bay 4-1, with goals from Ryan Rowlands and Tomos Wynne. Steve Flangan replied with a penalty.
• In division one Penrhyndeudraeth, under new boss Barry Evans, went down 4-1 at Llandudno Albion, after scoring first, through Tom Smith on 38 minutes.
Peter Jones equalised on 52 minutes and three goals in six minutes sealed the win through Dave Maddox on 78, Luke Smith on 80 and Maddox again on 84.
Holyhead Hotspur marked their arrival, following relegation from the Cymru Alliance, by swamping Prestatyn Sports 9-2, with Kenleigh Owen and Chris Jones firing hat-tricks for the visiting team.
Rob Jones, Dean Thomas and an own-goal completed the rout, and Dean Hyland on 40 and Tom McDougall replied.
Last season’s league runners-up Bodedern Athletic lost 3-1 at Greenfield, through Danny Calvert on 24 minutes, Sam Jones on 54 and Brett Jones on 78.
Dean Redmond’s reply goal on 40 minutes had made it 1-1 at the interval.
Jake Walker scored twice as Denbigh Town beat Mynydd Llandygai 4-1, along with Mark Roberts and own goal, after Osian Jones had netted Mynydd’s reply.
Gethin Wakeham and Tomos Saynor earned Llanberis a 2-1 win against Glan Conwy, with Danny Landers replying, while Danny Williams’ equaliser earned St Asaph City a 1-1 draw at Nantlle Vale, who had scored through Tom Mahoney.
