Pwllheli resumed their audacious quest for the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division two promotion spots by beating third-placed Aberffraw 4-2, and they are closing the gap with games-in-hand.
After an early goal from Tom Mahoney within five minutes of the kick-off, Marcus Banks doubled the home team’s lead on 17 minutes.
Nathan Moore hit back on 21, but second half goals by Tomos Jones on 59 minutes and Dafydd Gwyn Jones on 72 steered Pwllheli to victory.
Moore netted his second goal three minutes from the final whistle, but Pwllheli were home and dry, as they continued their steady climb up though the rankings.
Glan Conwy missed their chance to go top of the table as they slipped to a 4-2 defeat against Llannerchymedd.
The hosts went ahead on 32 minutes through Josh Griffiths, but prolific scorer Jordan Phillips scored a neat finish to bring the scores level.
The hosts regained the initiative with a Mark Jones effort on 64 minutes, and soon after James Burgess put them further in the ascendancy.
Jones despatched his second goal on 83 minutes, and although Phillips converted a penalty in stoppage time it did not affect the outcome.
Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs, who had no game, remain a point clear, but having played two more matches.
Tomos Jones scored twice in the first half as Llannefydd won 3-1 at Kinmel Bay, after Kerion Ellis had cancelled out an early goal from Elgan Roberts for the visiting team.
Gaerwen picked up a point with a 1-1 draw at home to Pentraeth. Gethin Davies got the home side off to a flyer in with a superb strike on 21 minutes, but the visitors hit back when Ryan Woods equalised after 66 miniutes.
Penmaenmawr were 4-0 winners at Meliden, where a brace by Daniel Williams and singles by Alfie Caldecott and Ifan Jones sealed victory.
Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One
VisItors Penrhyndeudraeth experienced a bleak outing to St Asaph City in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance’s division one as they were consigned to a 4-1 defeat.
The Saints opened their account through John Terry six minutes from the break, and a minute after the re-start for the second period James Brewerton doubled the lead.
Further goals from Josh Brown after 52 minutes and Brewerton on 66 sealed the points, before Penrhyn’s Meilir Williams netted areply three minutes from the end.
Title contenders Bodedern Athletic moved up to second place in the race for honours with a 4-1 home win over lowly Llandyrnog United.
Aden Clarke scored on nine, 80 and 90 minutes, and Joe Craven provided the other goal on 29, whereas Llandyrnog’s reply came from Dewi Morris on the hour.
Prestatyn Sports beat Nantlle Vale 4-3 with goals by Dean Ryland on 15 and 55 minutes, Michael Jones on 20 and Chris Owen on 85, while the visitors hit back with goals from Allan Davies Thomas on 21 and 90 and Allan Griffiths on 90-plus-three.
Mynydd Llandygai and basement side Llandudno Junction drew 1-1, with Matthew Smith scoring for the hosts on 27, before Richard Hughes equalised on 68.
• Llangefni Town, who are targeting the treble in the Welsh Alliance, burst through to the Mawddach Cup final, with a rousing 5-2 win over Llandudno Albion.
Last season’s trophy winners were swept aside in the Talwrn Road semi-final showdown by the home team goals from hat-trick scorer Matthew Jones, netting on 28, 40 and 64 minutes, and Allan Mark Owen on 45 and 65.
Albion, who went into action as the Alliance’s division one leaders, just above Llangefni in the rankings, managed replies from Dave Maddox on 36 minutes and Peter Jones with a penalty on 90.
The other semi-final between Llanrwst United and Llanrug United, respective previous cup winners in 2013 and 2017, will be played at the Roosters’ Gwydyr Park on Saturday week, 6 April. The final is already planned for Conwy Borough’s ground at the Morfa on 11 May.
