PWLLHELI have secured passage to the last 16 of the FAW Trophy, but only after being stretched all the way by visitors Nantlle Vale in a 3-2 fourth round thriller.
In a tense contest at the Recreation Ground, both attacks were contained for an hour, until the goals began to flow.
Dafydd Jones made the breakthrough for Ben Ogilvey’s hosts on 62 minutes, before Jason Banks on 67 and Jones again on 70 quickly put Pwllheli three goals up.
It was a positive response from the team from Penygroes, however, as they turned up the tempo and reduced the deficit to 3-2, with Phil Warrington and Sion Williams netting in the closing 10 minutes.
The referee’s final whistle brought huge sighs of relief from the locals, and the Welsh Alliance division two outfit now face a trip to take on Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) Premier Division high-flyers Corwen in the last 16.
Welsh Alliance division one leaders Llangefni Town are also through to round five, as 1-0 conquerors of Wrexham Area side Brymbo, and the match decider was celebrated by Iwan Jones on 39 minutes.
Bodedern Athletic also won by an only goal, which was netted by Aidan Clarke against Chirk AAA, but Glan Conwy were beaten 4-0 at Corwen, who marched on with goals from Sam Henry, Joe Williams, Iorweth Jones and Dale Davies.
Plas Madoc impressed as they sent Mynydd Llandegai crashing out of the competition with a 5-2 win, with goals by Josh Williams, with a brace, Jamie Williams, Nicky Williams and Rich Lawrence.
Cefn Albion beat FC Nomads 6-2, with goals from Alex Williams, with a brace, Dan Cox, Dion Gibbons, Conner Kendrick and Zac Davies. Nomads had netted goal through Jack Maybury and Charlie Robertson in a more even opening half.
MMP Mid Wales League division one side Llanfair United meanwhile crashed out with a 4-2 defeat away at Llanrug United, despite replies by Toby Evans and Karl Seliaerts from the penalty spot.
The Welsh Alliance side opened the scoring through a Joni Sadler penalty, and further goals from Sadler and Gavin Jones put them in control, before a David Noel Williams free kick sealed the win.
Jamie Evans scored a hat-trick as Four Crosses marched on with a solid 3-1 win over last season’s finalists, Welsh League (Wrexham Area) side Rhos Aelwyd, who had taken the lead through Ian Hughes.
Berriew reached the last 16 with a 2-0 win over Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) side Rhydymwyn, with goals by Charlie Humphreys and Joe Haycock, and Tom Williams scored the only goal as Bow Street won 1-0 at Maltsters Sports.
