PWLLHELI piled up a superb 5-1 tally against unbeaten Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one leaders Llanrwst United, to book their place in the third round of the FAW Trophy.
Barry Evans’ team maintained their perfect home record by building a 2-0 lead before half-time, before adding three more goals in the final quarter.
Llanrwst, who have only conceded six goals in six league outings this season, were in trouble after Dylan Sion Jones had netted for the hosts on 34 minutes and Llion Jones on 44.
Llanrwst’s Mike Lundstrom replied on 55 minutes, but three more netted efforts by teenager Jason Banks on 70 and 75 minutes and Lukacs Baltovic on 90 sealed an excellent home win.
Penrhyndeudraeth sprang back into action, after a three week lay-off by beating Llandudno Albion 4-2 on their own ground to secure progress.
David Maddox and Chris Quinn scored early on for the hosts on 8 and 15 minutes, but Adam Griffiths replied on 43 to halve Penrhyn’s defcit.
Carwyn Price equalised after the break and man-of-the-match Griffiths went on to complete his hat-trick with further goals on 65 and 71 minutes.
Llanystumdwy swept into the third round as they beat Welsh Alliance hosts Felinheli 4-3, courtesy of an injury time winner from Sion Parry.
Aled Jones’ team netted through Iwan Lloyd on 25 minutes and Parry on 32 and 41 to surge 3-2 in front by the break, and Parry had the last word, just as extra-time looked likely, to complete a well-taken hat-trick.
Felinheli had led 2-0 through Ryan Cain scoring on 5 minutes and Iwan Edwards on 24, and later Gruff John scored their equaliser on 73 minutes.
Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs had four regular players missing as they went down 2-0 at home to Pentraeth.
Stand in keeper Gavin Lewis saved a Dylan Williams penalty in a goalless first half, but sub Aled Hughes put the visitors ahead on 68 minutes and a fine solo goal from Josh Owen on 80 minutes secured their victory.
Llanrug United were 6-0 winners over Bodedern, with goals by Shaun Phillips on 9 minutes, Jonathan Sadler on 20, Alan Mark Owen on 26 and 87 and Luke Phillips on 36 and 55.
Llanberis also booked passage by beating Amlwch Town 4-1, with Jack Jones netting on 15 minutes from a penalty, Ifan Mansoor on 54, Thomas Collins on 65 and Rob Daniels on 90, with James Burgess replying on 62.
Prestatyn Sports beat Aberffraw 4-2 after extra-time, with Chris Jones and Mike Jones celebrating the decisive goals on 95 and 99 minutes, after earlier strikes by Danny Mills and Ian Dunn had been nullified by the visitors’ Nathan Moore and Iwan Lloyd.
Greenfield’s Sam Jones netted on 79 and 89 minutes to win 2-1 at St Asaph City, after Jake Walker scored on 20.
Machynlleth crashed out with a 2-1 extra-time defeat at Montgomeryshire League club Trewern, but they were left to rue a late missed penalty by Sion Williams. Callum Page had netted for Mach and Barry Haralambous for Trewern, before Alex Wilson netted the winner for the home side.
Tywyn/Bryncrug bowed out with a 4-2 defeat at Knighton, despite replies by Mark Edmondson and Tom Davies. Robbie Steele, with a brace, Connor Bird and Sam Roff sealed the win.
Bontnewydd finished on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline in their FAW Trophy tie at Penmaenmawr, whose Dan Williams netted a 90th minute winner.
Bont’s scorers were Gareth Edwards on 34 and Rhys Roberts on 63 and 67, whereas Penmaenmawr’s Zyron Davies netted on 16 minutes, Tom Paddock on 62 and Sean Thomas on 86.
Holyhead were another Gwynedd side to bow out when losing 4-3 after extra-time at Conwy Borough, against the Welsh Alliance title contenders.
Asa Thomas netted for Holyhead on 77 and 102 minutes and Jordan Murphy on 89, although Murphy was sent off on 95, whereas Conwy’s progress was secured by Sion Hogan on 48, Matty Cook on 59, Kevin Lloyd on 107 and Corrig McGonigle on 115.
