LLANIDLOES Town made it back-to-back wins to further boost their prospects of climbing the Spar Mid Wales League division one with a 2-1 victory over Radnor Valley at Victoria Avenue.

After the previous week’s 2-1 success at Welshpool, the Daffs repeated the feat against visitors Radnor, thanks to a second half strike from Rhys D Evans.

Joe Evans played a swiftly taken free kick to Ed Clarke, who drilled a cross into the goalmouth, and the ball deflected into the net off a defender.

Matthew Savage also had a chance, and Joe Evans was denied by the post, but before half time Radnor’s Joey Price capitalised to score when keeper Aaron Warrick failed to control a back pass. The Daffs had less control after the break, but bagged a winner when Rhys D Evans smashed home from 20 yards.

“In the first half we were decent, we could have been two or three up, but we gave away a poor goal right on half time,” said Llani boss Hugh Clarke.

“It seems that when we make a mistake, we get punished, while we have to work really hard for our goals, but overall I felt that we deserved the win.”

Aberaeron were unable to close in on the leading pack as Carno took their chances to keep up their own pressure on the leaders with a solid 4-1 victory.

Aberaeron had most of the possession in the opening half, but with half-time approaching, Ashley Owen whipped a ball into the penalty box and Colin Reynolds headed back across goal for Peter Rees to tap home from close range.

Aberaeron fought back in the second half and veteran Reynolds was deemed to have pulled down the striker, but visiting keeper Kris Williams made a brilliant save to keep the visitors ahead.

Gregg Brown fired just wide for Carno moments later, and when sub Ioan Humphreys was brought down in the box, Ashley Owen stepped up to score from the spot to increase their lead.

Carno sub Richie Evans then scored with a free kick within minutes of being sent on to make it 3-0, and moments later Gregg Brown caught the keeper off his line and fired the ball into the top corner from 30 yards to make it 4-0.

A second penalty was awarded to the hosts in the final minute and this time Mattie Davies made no mistake as he coolly converted a consolation goal from the spot.

Unbeaten leaders Rhayader Town had to settle for a share of the spoils as Knighton Town hit back with an injury-time equaliser to claim a 1-1 draw.

Tom Bethell had put the Red Kites ahead, but with time almost up the home side salvaged a point when Connor Bird scored their dramatic leveller.

A 94th minute equaliser had denied Machynlleth all three points on Friday night away at Welshpool Town as they settled for a 3-3 draw, with Andrew Page scoring a hat-trick for the visitors.

Neil Pryce had struck twice to give Pool a 2-1 half time-lead, but Page completed a well-taken treble to put Mach 3-2 ahead until the closing minutes.

In injury time, Christian Webster broke down the right and crossed for man-of-the-match Sam Evans to storm into the box and score their equaliser.

Bow Street slipped to a second successive defeat as a Iwan Matthews penalty and a Marc Griffiths goal earned fifth-placed Llanrhaeadr a 2-1 victory, with Steffan Richards netting for Street.

Richard Davies and Steffan Rogers scored twice as Berriew remained second-from-top with a solid 6-1 win over Tywyn/Bryncrug. Karl Seliaerts and Rob Pritchard also scored, whilst Mark Edmondson replied for the visitors.

Elliott Williams netted four goals as Llandrindod Wells hammered hosts Montgomery 7-1. Rob Nicholls scored twice and Shaun Nicholls scored for the Wellmen, with Tom Evans replying.
