LLANIDLOES Town hit the goal trail as they kept up their title pressure in the MMP Mid Wales League division one with a 7-0 romp against struggling Churchstoke at Victoria Avenue.
Victory kept them second in the table, one point behind local rivals Caersws who were 2-0 winners against Llansantffraid Village the night before.
The Daffs are now nine points clear of Berriew in third spot, but the Rhiewsiders have four games in hand, while Welshpool Town and Radnor Valley both suffered defeats to lose more ground.
The Daffs were always in control against a Churchstoke side that is rooted to the foot of the division one table and still looking for their first win this season.
Peter Rees led the charge with four goals, his hat-trick coming in the first half hour, while George Clarke, Matthew Savage and Connor Bird also found the net.
Boss Hugh Clarke, whose side have been wasteful at times this season in front of goal, was more than happy with a clinical showing.
“We got an early goal which settled us, and we went on from there,” he said.
“We took our chances which was pleasing, and I can’t remember us missing any real clear opportunities, which we have been doing.
“We were decent in front of goal, and Peter Rees is looking like his old self after coming back from injury.
“We were able to rest a few players, and bring a few back, so it was a good day.”
Peter Rees put the Daffs on course for a comfortable win with a hat-trick in the opening first half hour, with the striker opening his account with just six minutes gone.
He doubled the Daffs’ advantage with an instinctive 40-yard lob, following a clearance from the keeper, before completing his treble with another neat finish.
George Clarke made it four before the interval, and there was more cheer as defender Harri Clarke appeared in the second half after a long lay-off with a shoulder injury.
Rees made it 5-0 after the break, while substitute Savage tapped in goal number six when converting at the back post, before another good cross into the box saw Bird complete the scoring.Llandrindod Wells held on for a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw away at Aberaeron, where Shaun Nicholls and Michael Collister scored the goals for the visitors, who also saw Ben Jones sent off.
Dan James and Ifan Burrell had netted for the hosts, but they were unable to force a winning goal at the end.
Second half goals by Max Mclaughlin and Ben Hendleman earned Kerry a 2-0 win over Radnor Valley, and they were indebted to keeper Ryan Andrew for making some great first half saves.
Andy Evans scored twice as Carno registered a good 2-1 away win against Welshpool Town, with Will Thomas on target for the hosts.
Rich Powell scored a hat-trick as Builth Wells were 5-1 winners at Tywyn/Bryncrug, with Sam Williams and Luke Hicks also scoring. Aled Jones netted the reply.
On Friday night, a goal in each half from teenagers Charlie Gordon and Tai Jones had earned league leaders Caersws a 2-0 win over Llansantffraid Village.
