DOLGELLAU were hit for six in the MMP Mid Wales League division two as high-flying Hay St Mary’s notched a big 6-1 away win last weekend.

First half goals by Jack Biggs, Matty Tong, with a brace, and Brendan Hackett opened up a 4-0 interval lead, and further goals followed for the Saints in the second half through Tom James and Adi Lawford to add to the hosts’ misery.

Hay were soon into their stride as Greg Preece outpaced the full back before crossing into the box, with Biggs scoring for the visitors from close in.

Two minutes later, the Saints' lead was doubled, as Tong saw his original effort saved by the home keeper, but he pounced to slot the rebound in from a tight angle.

It got worse for Dolgellau in the 22nd minute as Hay went 3-0 up, with Tong going around the left back and scoring from a tight angle.

A couple of penalties were waved away for the visitors by referee Gwilym Lewis, but when Tong was tripped centrally around 22 yards out, Brendan Hackett curled the free kick around the wall into the bottom right corner.

On the stroke of half time young Liam Mcanally was brought down in the area, and this time Lewis pointed to the spot, but Biggs’ effort came back off the crossbar.

Dolgellau changed their formation at the start of the second half, which starved the visitors of the first half possession they enjoyed.

Visiting keeper Tom Bevan made a brilliant double save in the 70th minute, but full back Tom James scored next, finishing off a good move.

Replacement Adi Lawford added the Saints’ final goal with a good finish after being put through on goal.

Hay had to play the last 12 minutes with 10 men after Jordan Ingram limped off, and Dolgellau then scored a consolation goal in the last minute through Sion Lloyd.
