ST DOGMAELS joined Newcastle Emlyn in the semi-finals of the Costcutter Ceredigion League Cup with a well-deserved victory over Felinfach by 5-1, and the winning margin could have been greater.

The game looked won by half-time as two goals from Louis Harding and one from Adam Williams were just reward for a fine team effort, with none better than skipper Jason Williams at centre back and Craig Williams alongside him.Further goals after the break from Peter Almond, with a corker, and Chris Morgan sealed the victory, whilst Rhys Jon James had netted the consolation goal for Felinfach. The Saints will take on the winners of the Llandysul versus Lampeter quarter final in the last four.

Cup holders Newcastle Emlyn trounced Costcutter second division outfit Bargod Rangers 8-0 at Parc Puw, with former Rangers man Jake Kelly bagging a hat-trick.

There was very little to choose between the teams when they met a fortnight ago, but in drying conditions and on a lovely surface Emlyn were far too good on the day.

Two goals from Kelly, including one from the penalty spot, and one apiece for Dion Phillips and Adrian Hazelby put the visitors in a commanding position at the interval.

Roving defender George Lowry added the fifth goal in the second half when he headed home from a corner, followed by goals from Hazelby, Kelly and Cory Davies.Emlyn will play the winners of the tie between Ffostrasol and Aberaeron Reserves in their semi-final.

Lampeter Town produced one of their best all-round performances of the season to hammer Cardigan Town 7-1 and move 10 points clear at the top of the division one tale.

Ben Davies had fired the visitors ahead with a superb shot from the edge of the box, but this was just the wake up call that Lampeter needed, and on the half hour Scott Davies robbed a defender and slipped the ball in for Jason Jones to score.

Marc Evans made it 2-1 when he picked up the ball on the edge of the box and beat the keeper with a left-footed strike, and front runner Jones increased the home lead when he used his pace to outrun the defence and deftly lob the keeper from outside the penalty box.

Marc Evans killed the game off early in the second half when he scored from a header, and soon after team captain Terry Witts made a late run into the box and slipped the ball home from close range.

Further goals from Evans, to complete a well-taken hat-trick with his right foot, and substitute Rhys Douglas completed the 7-1 rout.

Ffostrasol meanwhile picked up what could prove a very valuable point after they held Crannog to a 3-3 draw at the Urdd Centre.

In division two, Aberporth moved within three points of leaders Llanboidy as they thrashed Lampeter Reserves 10 at the RAE ground.

John Midgley completed a hat-trick, Dan Davies and Joel Tanner netted doubles, and Liam Griffiths, James King and Jedd Townsend took the tally into double figures.

Goals from Josh Harris and John Buck helped steer Newcastle Emlyn Reserves to a 2-0 win over Maesglas, and there was a welcome win for New Quay, who beat Crannog Reserves by 4-2. The scheduled match between Llandysul Reserves and Llanboidy was called off.

In division three, Llanboidy Reserves were far too good for a nine man SDUC outfit and the Cae Dandre side helped themselves to 15 goals without reply.

Gethin Scourfield was the star of the show as he bagged four goals, front runner Ellis Williams claimed a hat trick and there were two apiece for Richard Thorne, Steff Lee and Steff Thomas.

Will Hermatige and Declan Harries also got in on the act and claimed a goal each.

Cwpan Coffa Dai ‘Dynamo’ Davies

LLANDYSUL moved smoothly into the semi-finals of the Cwpan Dai ‘Dynamo’ Davies as they defeated Cambrian Tyres League outfit Padarn United 4-0 - but their win was marred by a nasty injury to Liam Gordon.

The ex-Pencader man, a recent signing for the Swallows, had only been on the pitch a couple of minutes as a substitute when he unfortunately fractured his knee-cap in a challenge.

Padarn had started as the brighter side with the front three of Paul James, Jason Davies and Tegid Owen linking up well, but it was the Swallows who opened the scoring after 25 minutes.

Simon Davies finished off well, after a great flick-on from Carwyn Morgan, to break the deadlock, and Scott Jones doubled the score for the Costcutter League side before the interval when he fired home direct from a corner.

It could have been 3-0, if not for a brilliant goal line clearance from full back Chris Foster, but Padarn again started the second half brightly, before for Llandysul secured their win.

Two goals from front runner Davies, to complete his hat-trick sealed their place in the last four, whilst Padarn saw themselves reduced to 10 men, before they bowed out of the competition, despite a spirited performance.
