TYWYN/BRYNCRUG slipped to a 4-1 reverse in the Spar Mid Wales League division one, as Hay St Mary’s took the spoils with goals by Steve Morgan, Adi Lawford, Will Goodwin and Callum Maddy.

The Saints got off to a great start, with Steve Morgan turning a defender inside out in the second minute, before shooting across the keeper into the bottom corner.

For the next half an hour, the visitors kept possession well, but Tywyn stepped up before half-time interval, without seriously testing visiting keeper Jordan Baker.

The Saints doubled their lead in the 47th minute, however, when winger Adi Lawford finished a good passing move by lobbing over the keeper from 12 yards out.

Tywyn came back well and saw a lot more of the ball, hitting the post on two occasions, and twice being denied by good saved by Baker from close range.

The game was put to bed in the 73rd minute, however, when the hard working Will Goodwin finished off after Morgan had unselfishly played the ball to him.

Five minutes later a Brendan Hackett corner was headed away from goal, only for Matthew to hit the ball first time from 25 yards out into the top corner of the net.

Sion scored a late consolation goal in the 88th minute, but there was no way back.

Neil Evans netted a dramatic last-minute winner as Bow Street lifted themselves up to fourth position with a last-gasp 3-2 win away against local rivals Machynlleth.

As the game entered into injury time, Evans struck a thrilling winner to secure his side’s 12th league win, and lift the Magpies one point clear of Aberaeron.

Machynlleth had rallied from being two goals down, and they looked to have secured a hard-earned point, courtesy of goals from man of the match Max Jones, and Sion Jones, from the penalty spot.

Bow Street had opened up their two-goal advantage through goals from Llion Jenkins, against his former club, and Tom Williams, but the hosts rallied well, before Evans scored the winner at the death.

Llanidloes Town returned to action with a fine 2-0 win at Knighton Town, to keep alive their chances of a top five finish.

Goals in each half by George Clarke and Rhys Evans secured the spoils, and they are just five points adrift of fourth-placed Aberaeron, with two games in hand.

Clarke headed the opener from a Matthew Savage corner on 25 minutes, and further chances saw Rhys Evans spurn a one-on-one chance, whilst Joe Evans fired just wide, and Gareth Owen headed over.

The three points were eventually sealed by the Daffs five minutes from time when top scorer Rhys Evans latched on to a poor back pass to double the visitors’ lead.

Goals by Jonny Williams and Ben Jones earned Llandrindod Wells a 2-1 win at Welshpool, with Will Pritchard replying.

Aberaeron face either Penrhyncoch or Llanrhaeadr in the semi-finals of the Central Wales Senior Challenge Cup after they overcame the challenge of Radnor Valley to register a 3-1 home win.

David Evans opened the scoring for the Seasiders with an early goal, but Valley hit back as Callum Mathews scored their equaliser. Dan James, however, restored the lead from a Gareth Severs corner and Mathew Davies made the game safe when he converted from the penalty spot.

A depleted Carno were meanwhile beaten 1-0 by Rhayader, who will face Caersws or Llanidloes Town in the semi-finals.

Carno boss Chris Davies was without Ben Richards, Ash Owen, Colin Reynolds, Harry Holt, Gregg Brown and the suspended Ioan Humphreys and Peter Rees.

The Red Kites made the breakthrough when Richie Powell fired into the roof of the net, following a defensive block.

Richie Evans saw his penalty saved, after he was blocked in the box, and Drew Reynolds had a header cleared off the line.

Rhayader held firm in the second half, despite further chances falling for Carno’s Richie Evans and Andrew Evans.
