ABERYSTWYTH Town made it a hat-trick of Welsh Cup wins in recent seasons over Holywell Town as first half goals from Kuris March and Luke Borrelli capped a dominant display.

Midfielder March broke the deadlock on 32 minutes with his second goal in as many games after Chris Jones’ free kick had been parried.

Top scorer Borrelli then doubled the Seasiders’ lead in first half injury time when he beat the offside trap to meet a fine through ball again from Jones.

The home side created chance after chance in the second half but couldn’t quite add to their tally as Matthew Bisop’s team finished well on top.

The Seasiders can now look forward to hosting Cymru Alliance leaders Prestatyn Town in the fourth round.

After three league defeats, Aber had signalled their intent when Borrelli went straight through, only to be denied by visiting keeper Paul Turner.

Skipper Luke Sherbon headed over from the resultant corner, and with the hosts looking assured, the irrepressible Chris Jones sent in a left wing cross which Borrelli stretched to convert, only to be flagged offside.

Kostya Georgievsky also went close, after Cledan Davies’ ball over, and although Paul Williams and Lee Healey had tame shots saved by Chris Mullock, Aber were in the ascendancy.

Home keeper Mullock was also called on to make two fantastic saves from Greame Williams and Paul Williams in quick succession, but at the other end Borrelli again went close to taking the lead with another header.

The Cymru Alliance outfit looked to keep things tight until half-time, but on 32 minutes Georgievsky was hacked down on the edge of the box and from Jones’ free kick, March fired Aber into a fully deserved lead.

The Seasiders went close again when Sherbon hooked wide from close range, although Ryan Wollacott made a crucial defensive block to prevent a clear chance for the visitors.

Then, with the game in injury time before the break, former Haverfordwest striker Borrelli struck his sixth goal of the season to double the score.

Aber kept the pressure on incessantly after the interval, with Will Bell heading over yet another Jones cross.

Jones then played in Geoff Kellaway, who rounded the keeper but hit the post from a wide angle, and he went close again a few minutes later.

Georgievsky too saw a shot saved, and then sub Jack Rimmer almost picked out Borrelli with a peach of a pass, but the visitors recovered.

Chris Jones then sent a cute curling shot towards the far post, but keeper Paul Turner managed to palm it away, and Borrelli again headed wide, from a Daniel Alfei cross.

Holywell, who had lost to Aber in the 2014 Welsh Cup Semi-Final, offered efforts from Lee Healey and Brady McGilloway, but Aber’s defensive block of Davies, Wollacott, Bell and Alfei deserved their clean sheet.

The Green tide kept coming at the other end, and Kellaway surged forward 70 yards before picking out sub Blake Davies, who crossed for Borrelli to net a fine effort - but for the second time he was called offside.

Kellaway found space again before missing the target, substitute Davies hooked over and then Borrelli again went close at the far post, but Aber were satisfied to be safely through..
